There are a lot of schools moving to remove cursive from the syllabus. Everything is on computers now, so fancy squiggly writing just says "I waste time prettily."

Cursive is not pretty at all, we all just write in it because it's more natural and it's faster. Plus everyone can read their own handwriting so why should they care if someone else can't read it, I guess. But it seems some kids actually write in not cursive(dunno what the english word for it is) for some reason, and it's easier to understand for other people.
