Would Azeroth survive if the Horde was destroyed?

Just an hypothetical, non-canon scenario, that stretches to at least around the war after Undercity's reclamation from Putress. If Varian successfully killed Thrall during their brawl in the aftermath of the takeover, or shortly after, and soon sent the Horde into chaos, and effectively disbanding it, then taking back Lordaeron and Silvermoon City, would the Alliance, bolstered by these resources, be enough to take on the threats we've dealt with until now?

From the way Blizzard made the story look like and unfold, probably not.

No. There is a reason that history has been allowed to unfold as it has, in the past, if you've ever done the Black Morass or Culling of Stratholme.

yea,i dont see why not. After that the horde basicaly started infighting because garosh took over, i wouldnt see a problem knowing he would do that if Thrall died and Alliance capitalizing over that.

Who would bubble and hearth from deathwing if the horde were destroyed?
TBH, if horde were destroyed, it would just turn into The Sims MMORPG!

How can you even ask when we've seen Azeroth CANNOT survive without both the Horde and Alliance? God, Blizzard have been showing us this since 2003 or whenever RoC came out. Sigh.

Nope. Without horde leaders of alliance would loose purpose of they lives and have mental breakdown. Then they would abbandon alliance and became the most fearsome crew of butt-pirates that ever sailed in ironforge fountain. Without they mighty leaders rest of alliance would fall prey of legion and goblin aggresive advertising, becaming slaves to demon's and they consumer needs. Then evil Go'el from alternate dimension would nuke stormwind. The End.
So to answer OP question.. Not a chance pal.

Think about it this way. This is not the Alliance we have today, but an Alliance superpower with Lordaeron, Silvermoon, and most of the Horde races as battle slaves (Orcs), or willing cooperators (Goblins).

    Still not enough?

How would regaining Lordaeron and Silvermoon matter? Lordaeron is a dead wasteland for the most part, and Silvermoon is ruled by the Blood Elves, who since 5.2 wouldn't be caught dead officially with the Alliance after what Jaina pulled. They would have to wipe out the Blood Elves and attempt to reinstate the High Elves, which are supposed to be a minority. The Silver Covenant is all that is supposed to remain of them, having been exiled from Silvermoon and finding a home in Dalaran due to Vereesa and Rhonin bumping uglies.

Also all the Horde races as battle slaves? What the hell? Half of the orcs combat strength comes from pride. They wouldn't be fighting at their peak as slaves. Neither would the tauren or trolls.

You know what Blackmoore did with Orcs in the alternative timeline where Thrall died right? He basically took over the world...

Oh yes, the Alliance having Orc battle slaves definitely makes them a stable faction.

Besides, I don't think Silvermoon wants to go back to the Alliance either and Stormwind has no claim on Lordaeron, they're different human kingdoms. This Alliance 'superpower' of yours would be too busy fighting itself to really protect Azeroth from any outside influences.

And even if total peace was possible, the Alliance would become weak and lazy, just look at what happened when the Dark Portal opened. They weren't prepared and the Alliance was almost wiped out. If it weren't for Gul'dan betraying the Horde, the Alliance wouldn't even be here anymore.

Key words being "alternative timeline". I hate alternative timelines and time travel paradoxes, it's always a damn mess and gets people all rilled up with the whole "OOOH BUT WHAT IF!!!" tinfoil hat stuff, it's a damn mess.

Face the facts that the Orcs under human leadership would be generally much more powerful.

    It's canon too.

And let's not even get started on the massive amount of racism the 'civilized' races would show towards their new Orc, Troll and Forsaken allies. This would never work, the civil unrest would be much greater than what Garrosh current achieved.

Well it never said that the Orcs were even stronger under the human leadership, it just said that it was enought to take Lordaeron...

Books and games are separate though. Something that happens in the books doesn't necessarily have to be true in the game.
The books are based on the happenings of the games, but the games hardly take anything from the books. In fact, the games occasionally even contradict the books.

The books are canon, and generally the only way to get into the lore, as there is no good story in-game
