Even looking outside of the confines of pure income, we're still some of the wealthiest people on earth by virtue of having access to commodies like clean water, eletricity, plumbing, et cetera - not even counting things like emergency medical care, social aide programs, etc. In that regard, even the homeless in most western countries are "richer" than the rest of the world.
