Frost DK T14 4 piece bonus vs. LFR head, what is stronger?

Hello Dk friends,

today I got the 4. item from the 496 T14 set and I cant decide whether to choose for the t14 496 helmet which grants me the 4 piece bonus (5% strength from Pillar of Frost) or for the Doomed Crown of Lei-Shen (502 itemlvl from LFR).

How strong is the 4 piece bonus from T14 ?

I'll tried to calculate it, please correct me if I do something wrong:

- With the 496 T14 head I lose 151 strength. (with 180 str socket bonus)
- 5% more strength from the T14 4-piece bonus are about 853 strength. Looking at Simcraft results, you got 34,6 % pillar of frost uptime in a 360-540 second lasting fight.

853 * 0,346 ~296 more strength from Tier 14 bonus. So at the first look it is worth to change the 502 LFR head with the 496 T14 head.

Besides this, I lose 188 mastery and gain 180 hit(Im already got to much hit)

From what I can tell, the T14 Helmet with the Set bonus would be around a 400 dps increase with the 4 set as far as upgrades go. The extra hit you get on the Lei Shen helm is worthless and makes the T14 Helmet around a 500 dps increase on a patchwork fight for your situation.

You should definitely be using the T14 4set, personally I would only recommend changing it out for the T15 2set or an exceptional amount of good stats from 522+ gear.

For now stick with T14 4-set. Once you get your meta gem though break the 4 set and use whatever 5.2 related helm you have.
