Got this message today when trying to sell a mount I bought, yes I bought it cheaper then usual, its not my first time and usually I just turn around and sell it for profit. This is the first time ive had the problem of not being able to put it in the AH. I can still trade it with other people however. Did I buy a duped mount?

It was most likely duped, ask a gm to fix it, you should not get banned from buying a duped mount.
