As been said before, comparing dollar budgets is retarded.

The US budget is bloated because of maintenance (a lot of military bases world wide) and salaries/benefits. The R&D portion of the budget isn't nearly as impressive.

Ultimately, the human component is also important, and on both sides of the equation, all that high tech is being used by a bunch of dumbass high school dropouts.

Actually a GED or a High school diploma is required to enlist in the United States Army. Not only that, but our officer corps are required to have a BA to be an officer and the majority of our senor NCO's have either a BA or a Masters (promotions amongst senor NCO's is incredibly tough)

Even if you were right, our bunch of High school drop outs still outclass and outperform any other military force in the world, what does that say about your third rate country's military?

Russia is sending warships to the syrian coast, claiming its to help evacuate civilians. what do you think? it seems unwise since a miscommunication between russian and us warships could lead to a skirmish. why not just send civilian ships?

Why is the US allowed to send warships but the Russians are not? Hypocrit much?
Yes, it's dangerous and in the worst case scenario it could lead to a new conflict between the US and Russia. But don't blame Russia, blame both parties.

Amphibious warships are designed for and train for evacuating people, civilian ships will just make it a headache. We did the same thing a few years ago when Israel bombed Lebanon.
