I think the only possible way they could make a new (good) Warcraft RTS is to set it in the distant future and just get rid of all the races and characters they don't consider quality. Going back to the core of the franchise basically, kinda like how Mortal Kombat did their reboot to get rid of all the crap.

back to the roots of the game so to speak. How do you do that without alienating all the current wow generation?

It needs to have a great story, with compelling gameplay from campaigns. future lore is needed.

    well in my opinion yes.

but WoW wont live forever . We will have 3-4 more expansions but then WoW will need something new... Finally technical improvements of WoW egnine wont be enough and adding new playable races and classes will be useless. srsly we got Furbolgs and Ogres and maybe High Elves(and that idea has as many lovers as haters) involved in Horde-Alliance conflict. 3 or 4 classes to add and 5-6 enemies to slay.

ofc Blizzard is able to add 9999 useless and loreless races like Draenei, Pandas, Vyrkul or Arakkoa to fill every next expansion but it will finally make new races boring and not interesting. They can add another 999 classes that are identical to previous. They can add new worlds and more and more epic enemies but how long?

WoW will finally end because World of Warcraft will finally need some refreshment and new order.
And it will be time for Warcraft 4

ofc there is also an option for doing something in other worlds like Horde and Alliance doing invasion on BL planets but it wont be real WC4.

If Warcraft 4 was ever to happen, I'd imagine it would have to be either a prequel or "side story." Any leap into the future is bound either to place restrictions on what events may happen in the interim ("Sargeras is still around? Guess we won't wipe out the Legion in WoW") or give away some surprises ("the Legion isn't anywhere in the game anymore? Oh, we must have destroyed it!") to players if those events have already been written. That is, if the time leap isn't so absurdly large as to render the continued use of the Warcraft setting irrelevant ("Welcome to a million years in the future! At least the land masses are roughly the same...").

There's plenty of lore available as prequel fodder that doesn't place risky restrictions on future development ... or turn WC4 into a WoW plot spoiler of epic proportions.
