    Upgrade Question

I currently have a 5+ year old system and I'm thinking about building a new system, but I was wondering is there any thing I can do with this one to eek out a little more performance that would be worth the money. The new system I want to build would be an i3 or i5 depending on how much money I decide to drop. Is there anything for that type of system that I could buy now and use in my current system until I buy everything for the new system? I'm thinking a video card would be the only thing, but I don't know how all that works.

    Specs:

    MB - GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX
    Video Card - MSI NX8800GTS-T2D320E-HD-OC GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB 320-Bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDC
    Processor - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Quad-Cor
    Ram - 4 x G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model

Edit: I'm not overclocking this cpu at all. Would that be an option?

You can overclock it a bit, while will help some, but the system is definitely in dire need of an overhaul. The system is 7 years old, well beyond its intended upgrade period :P

Dont buy upgrades for that thing, ditch that thing. Get some money together and ask here again for the best build

Would an i3 system be a pretty big upgrade form this?

Technically I could spend 900 or so for an i5, but I don't know if it is worth it considering I am mainly just playing sc2, wow and d3 at the moment.

A huge yes, an i3 4330/4130 will perform close to an i5 4560 because the hyperthreading.
