Are you ever too old to play video games?
Some people consider video games to be "childish".

No.
You can, however, have too many responsibilities that prevent you from playing video games.

Never, the whole reason there's this stupid saying that adults don't play video games is because most of our adults never grew up with the same video games that we did. I predict that kids and their parents will play games together more often than they do now. I know that if I have kids, I'll gladly play video games with them. Would be cool if they got good, that way I'd have a reliable video game partner.
Are you ever too old to play video games? Uhh, no.
Do you ever get to a point where you have bigger priorities in life then Video Gaming and it just becomes a hobby? Yes, unless you make a career out of it but even then you are still going to eventually(hopefully) have a family and kids at some point which all dwindle the amount of time you have to play games.
The fact today's generation grew up gaming is the reason you see 30 and 40 year olds playing games. People like me in their 20s will probably keep a hobby out of it into retirement unless the industry falls in the shitter in that time span which is entirely possible.
Some of my friends stopped playing video games after high school because they thought girls wouldn't want to go out with them if they played games, because "games are for babies". Ten years later? They're all playing games again. I think it's the phase where kids think they're mature when they're really not.
No such thing as too old. my 65 year old dad still plays the occasional video game. Same with my 60 yera old mother. I think tastes and what you have time for change though.
Anyone thats says such a stupid thing as too old is just going on old preconceptions of vdieo games being a young, nerdy hobby when that isnt true anymore because those of us young, nerdy people are now full grown adults.
I think our generation that grew up with this technology will definitly be gamers in the older age at least. I dont see anything wrong with that
Never too old to do anything.
Currently Procrastinating
I reply with "Aren't you too old to act like an idiot everyday?"
My father keeps insisting you can be, but he still thinks of games being shit like space invaders.
I can think of at least three fairly frequent posters here that are over 50, and I'm aware of players in their 60s.
With COVID-19 making its impact on our lives, I have decided that I shall hang in there for my remaining days, skip some meals, try to get children to experiment with making henna patterns on their skin, and plant some trees. You know -- live, fast, dye young, and leave a pretty copse. I feel like I may not have that quite right.
My Father played more then me, at least on my Amiga 500 when it came to F1/racing games and my grandparents play a LOT more then me. Grandmother now 88 Years old plays a Holy Priest better then much of the 16 Years old whizkids, Grandfather mostly Shooters.
Anyone who tells me "only Kids play Games" gets a friendly "fuck off" from me. Im in my 30`s and i dont plan on stopping games.
I am almost 53, I have no plans to stop, as long as there are games I enjoy playing and that feel challenging enough, then I will probably play until either my brain is shot or worm dirt.
Gen X was born between the 60s and the early 80s. Depending on how you define it, it's a term made up by journalists. I was born in '81 which IIRC puts me right on the cutoff date from X to Y. Gen X is the last generation old enough to remember a time before video games.
So really a lot of gamers these days are actually Gen Y.
People can consider whatever they want. I personally think that the worst thing we can do in this world is stop being childish and start being adults.
As for video games, well... If even Robin Williams (R.I.P.), definitely not a no-lifer nerd, played WoW at the age of 60, I think we mortals are allowed it too.
