Sony doesn't launch systems in Q4, Nintendo does.

Sony doesn't typically launch big games in Q4, Nintendo does. Only exception was Horizon.

My man, I don't have to prove or disprove anything when you try to argue an apple with oranges. Nintendo literally launched both the 3DS and Switch in Q4, must just be a TERRIBLE quarter for them that "doesn't matter".

So instead of trying to keep linking Sony numbers, why don't you actually link NINTENDO numbers that make you think you know more then Nintendo's own inside people. You know, what's relevant to this thread and discussion.

We arent talking about a launch quarter here. Btw last quarter 4 Switch sold less than 3m units. Comparable to any other non holiday quarter. It was barely better than other quaters. You are making it out to be something its not.

2019 is going to be crazy. There are so many good games coming out in 2019 for Switch. Honestly I think 2019 will be Switches best year. I think after that the new consoles will slow Switch sales down, but the Switch will be close to 80m by the time Next gen comes out. Guessing 95-115m sold by the end of its life.

I think Ps4 will have better legs than Switch. 110-130m lifetime sales.
Xbox One 40-60m lifetime sales.

Want to provide proof? Ive been looking up sales data for all of this. The PS4's best 4th quarter ever was only 3m. That IS insignificant on a 15m needed total. Maybe Nintendo tends to sell better in that quarter than its competition?

Also looking at the data the 4th quarter performs the worst for Sony overall. The 1st and 2nd quarter outperform it.

The Wii sold 4.3m Wiis during Q4 2007
The following 2 quarter saw sells of 5.2m for Quarter 1 2008, and almost 5m for Q2.

Fiscal year 2008 Q4 was 5.3ish m
Q1 was 2.2 which is pretty bad.
Q2 was less than 4m as well.

Q4 2009 was 3.5m
Q1 2010 was 3m
Q2 was 2m

So I suppose overall Q4 is bigger on average, but don't act like its some powerhouse quarter.

I havent been saying it wont hit 20m for sure. It would just have to do far better than Ps4 to hit that target. We havent had a console sell as well as the Ps4 since smartphones took over. Wii did well for 3 years and then fizzeled out. Will Switch fizzle out? Will it outsell Ps4 to be the best selling home console of the modern era? Who knows, but if Switch does hit 20+m it will be a landmark year for modern times. Sure Sony had 20m sales one year, but it sold significantly better throughtout the non holiday period that year. Switch has just been keeping pace with last years sales numbers all year.

Psychic? No, they just look at reality. Every Switch bundle Nintendo has made for the holiday season is sold the fuck out. Pokemon and Smash both launched in the 2nd half of Q3 with legs that will walk well into Q4 and beyond. 2D Mario comes early in Q4.

And you're sitting here trying to compare that to SMO launching in the first half of Q3, and the only other games left to carry the Switch for the rest of the FY was niche games in XC2, Bayonetta ports and a not so niche but certainly not blockbuster in Kirby.

Likely the best selling combined Q3 and Q4 in history was 17.5m, and the Switch has to hit over 15m. I'm not a hater. I want the Switch to succeed. Its going to have to pull near DS numbers to hit that mark.
