Just noticed aswell, might mean some alpha invited will be coming out soonish or the start of the beta or something.

Well they did say that the beta would be coming this fall which I believe falls on September 23, this could have been added to the launcher to number one raise hype and speculation and two to prepare the launcher for the incoming beta starting up in hopefully the next 6~8 weeks.
But that is my own speculation on this

I believe they're done with Alpha and that we're moving for a closed Beta, followed by Open Beta by new years.

I just want to play my Reinhardt / Reaper / Mercy / Hanzo already! Not sure whom to main, but I'll try to focus on these heroes.

I, for one, believe they'll release closed beta a short time after Gamescon and at least by the time Blizzcon is online, we've been playing plenty and in turn they might make it an open beta. All wishes, though.

The earnings call from the other day said "this fall" also showed up on my launcher showing the videos and beta sign up.
