So Trump was just asked at the press briefing why mail-in voting is fine in Florida, but not in other states. This might not be the exact quote, but he started off by saying, "Because Florida has a Republican governor."

Then he went on to say how it also had another Republican governor before the current governor, and how they've done a great job of making sure mail-in voting would work well there.

The icing on top is of course, that Florida isn't particulary a stranger to presidential election controversy, as we have seen in the 2000 election, when George W. Wush was voted over Al Gore.

But it soon became clear the precincts reporting on Tuesday did not include all the voters whose ballots were sent by mail. Also uncounted were many absentee, military and provisional ballots. I know that may not be hilarious to everyone, but usually this sort of insane simplicity in graphics is not the sort of thing you use to brief a senior executive. They are assumed to be more intelligent then needing such basic visual aids.

Saw something on cnn last night explaining why Trump carved out an exception to his mail in ballot hate for Florida. Democrats in florida have requested 500,000 more absentee ballots than republicans so far for 2020. in 2016, there was only a 3000 ballot difference.

I mean his Son-in-Law is an ethnic and religious Jew, and therefore so are his grandchildren. Ivanka converted to Judaism, but "Semite" is usually used specific to ethnic Judaism.

I highly doubt he understands the huge amount of nuance that goes with that word (It doesn't refer just to Jews, it is a broader group, and it can be used for Ethnic, Religious, or Linguistic reasons, although ethnic is the most common), but I can't imagine the man grew up in New York without hearing the term "Semite".

Anyway, once again I want to emphasize that mispronouncing the term "Yosemite" is nothing but a distraction to claim credit for the Bill itself, which was introduced by John Lewis. By diverting the attention to something totally inconsequential, he has once again managed to get away with stealing the work and legacy of a better man.

Reminder, the DoJ has no authority over setting election dates, neither does the President. The election day is set by Congress. Which Pompeo was promptly reminded.

While 100% accurate, the number of law/rules/traditions that the Trump Crime Syndicate are currently ignore/flaunting/dismissing is legion. Including multiple orders from SCOTUS.

On a practical matter, since you are correct, and the states are completely in charge of the election, the only thing Trump and his empty unconstitutional and impeachable statements can do is disrupt. There have been talks, however, of GOP "election watchers", in the thousands, who will "observe" the election and ensure it's safe.

Republicans are recruiting an estimated 50,000 volunteers to act as "poll watchers" in November, part of a multimillion-dollar effort to police who votes and how.

Which is fucking horrifying.
