53,523 new cases, again about 3k fewer than last week.

California: 8,625 new cases; 77 deaths
Texas: 8,058 new cases; 160 deaths
Florida: 6,352 new cases; 205 deaths (still not testing anywhere near as many as before the storm)
Georgia: 3,273 new cases; 96 deaths
North Carolina: 2,472 new case; 55 deaths
Illinois: 1,828 new cases; 5 deaths
Tennesse: 1,289 new cases; 19 deaths
Alabama: 1,271 new cases; 2 deaths
Ohio: 1,117 new cases; 38 deaths
Michigan: 1,058 new cases; 20 deaths
Indiana: 1,044 new cases; 15 deaths
South Carolina: 1,041 new cases; 56 deaths

North Carolina now seems to be following the janky-ass Kansas method of reporting whereby they alternate between partial and complete reports daily. At least that's been the case the past several days for them. Not sure if they're having problems with their system or they just decided to be contrary. Either way it's just stupid.

No surprises today from what I can tell, but it's the start of the weekend lull so there generally aren't that many things of note. Of course, the number of people tested daily has gone down, so that's sure to have something to do with it. Great idea, by the way, winding down testing before the bulk of schools start reopening. Bold strategy, Cotton.

Deaths did end up breaking 1k again today at 1,071, putting the total at 172,606. That's about a hundred more than last Saturday. So much for starting the weekend off on the right foot.

    Stay safe, folks.
What better way to celebrate the rise in cases in Indiana than to reopen theaters at $0.15 a ticket on opening night!

We have new info on the USPS taking down machines. Meadows says it's the Democrats doing it and also it's not happening and it wouldn't matter if it did.

    "...what?"

Wanna see the video? He does all three in about sixty seconds.

The problem is that corporate wing of the Democrat party turned a blind eye to all the voter suppression because it helped suppress the progressive vote. They can't really complain if Trump wins the election.

Something doesn't add up, a bunch of newly created sock-puppet accounts keep telling us that African-Americans are really angry with Biden and Harris! How could 88% support Biden!?

Have low post count trolls been lying to us!?!?!?

The funniest part of that is that calling Trump supporters "stupid white men" isn't an insult as much as a statistically based estimate.

So support for authoritarianism is closely linked to support for Trump
    https://acpress.amherst.edu/books/ri...uthoritarians/

Support for authoritarianism is also linked to not being able to revise false beliefs when exposed to correct information
Here, we identify a novel factor that may predict belief updating: right-wing authoritarianism (RWA), which is characterized by a desire for order, structure, and preservation of social norms. We hypothesized that because people who score high on RWA are motivated to preserve entrenched beliefs, they may often fail to successfully update their beliefs when confronted with new information. Using a novel paradigm, we challenged participants’ false beliefs and misconceptions to elicit prediction error. In two studies, we found consistent evidence that high-RWA individuals were less successful at correcting their false beliefs. Relative to low-RWA individuals, high-RWA individuals were less likely to revise beliefs in response to prediction error. We argue that RWA is associated with a relatively closed-minded cognitive style that negatively influences belief updating.

Mmhmm, and he could do that at ANY time instead of waiting until he had a book deal. Good luck on there being anything actionable coming out of it.

as we both mentioned, he's a crook, that doesn't necessarily mean he's wrong

It's been documented now that COVID can lead to strokes and heart attacks, we really still haven't gotten around to all the things that virus can cause yet. However it really does not matter Trump went golfing as if nothing happened it's not like it's going to change him in any way.

To all the anti globalist Trump Supporters:

The Biggest Trump Financial Mystery? Where He Came Up With the Cash for His Scottish Resorts.
    https://www.motherjones.com/politics...ttish-resorts/

Such was also the case for Turnberry, the historic golf resort, an hour south of Glasgow, that Trump purchased in 2014 for $60 million. His large expenditures in Scotland were notable because they came during a rocky financial stretch for Trump. The year before purchasing the Aberdeenshire estate, he was ousted as CEO of his thrice-bankrupted casino business; in 2008, he defaulted on a large Deutsche Bank loan tied to a development in Chicago.

Soon after meeting Trump, the Agalarovs persuaded him to bring the 2013 pageant to one of their marquee properties: Crocus City Hall, a 7,500-seat concert hall they had opened four years earlier. “We just had a meeting … we all seemed to like each other, shook hands and signed our contract within a week’s time,” Emin said in his Forbes interview, adding that the pageant would cost $20 million to host.

Trump announced the venue in June 2013, saying Russia had beaten out 17 other countries. “Moscow right now in the world is a very, very important place,” he said. “We wanted Moscow all the way.” Trump added of the Agalarovs: “One of the great families in Russia is our partner in this endeavor.”

Agalarov has served as a liaison between Trump and Putin. According to an interview, they once discussed the construction of a Trump Tower in Russia. Agalarov had also reportedly tried to set up a meeting between the two, but this was canceled due to Putin having to meet the Dutch royal couple at the time. Putin instead sent Trump a fedoskino miniature.
Uhm... how did Trump suddenly get the money in 2013, for 60 million in Scotland, 20 million in Russia and another 1 billion shared with a Russian oligarch? Would seeing Trump’s taxes, make these expanses more interesting, after his bankruptcy?

At first it sounded interesting, but then I looked at the actual statement and noticed that the researches had incorrectly classified some statements and others depend on interpretation in a non-consistent way.

    They have:
Coffee is made from beans. FALSE; but Coffee is made from coffee beans - it's just that those "beans" are roasted berries.
Cockroaches can survive a nuclear blast. FALSE; They do survive better than humans and it will depend on how close they are.
Eating before swimming increases the risk of cramps. FALSE. The risk isn't significant (especially not for drowning), but there are suggestions that it is possible and it's almost impossible to prove a negative. (There are some indications that you are more likely to get more stomach cramps after eating, regardless of swimming.)
Spinach is high in iron. TRUE; Compared to other vegetables but not compared to meat - and it's not as useful as iron source.
Celery is a negative-calorie food because it takes more energy to digest than it provides. TRUE; This seems like an urban myth
Humans can only survive 3-4 days without water. TRUE; True on average but there are reports of some surviving for a week.
Electrons are negatively-charged ions. TRUE. Actually false, as ions are negatively charged atoms or molecules and thus are larger than electrons.
Most humans alive today have never made a phone call. TRUE. Seems unlikely when most humans actually own a mobile phone, and in many parts of the world people also share phones.
The closest living relative to the dinosaur Tyrannosaurus Rex is the chicken. TRUE All birds are as close - eagles as well.
Venus is the planet closest to Earth. TRUE Venus is the planet that gets closest to Earth - but any specific time it varies between Venus, Mars and Mercury - some say that on average it is Mercury.
The USA was originally 13 British colonies. TRUE The USA was created from them, but I wouldn't say that they were British colonies and part of the USA at the same time, and obviously the current USA consists of additional land.

It is also unclear why they focus on RWA instead of pure Authoritarianism.
