A New York appellate court has ruled that former President Donald Trump can post a lower bond to cover his $464 million civil fraud judgment.

The Appellate Division, First Department said Trump can post a bond "in the amount of $175 million" to cover the judgment.

Trump's attorneys had argued obtaining a bond for the full amount of $464 million was a "practical impossibility."

The panel of five judges also opted to delay enforcement of the $464 million judgment by 10 days.

The weird part to me is that even in stacked systems, people in power have a limited ability to fuck about. Greater than you and I of course, but only to the point where they start calling the System into question. At that point the System is typically forced to respond to maintain legitimacy, because functionally its desire is just to feign justice as lazily as possible.

But Donald is a GREAT target! He has a terrible reputation, he is horrid to listen to, his holdings are ass, his contribution to society is shit, his attitude is shit, and his associates are shit.

Donald is a GREAT target for even a corrupt system to use as "proof" that everyone is "equal".

The fact that they keep passing up this golden opportunity to not only actually enforce the law but also buy a whole lot of good will is just fucking sad.

I'm just going to look on the bright side and assume that since he won't put up the full judgement it will keep accruing interest and by the time the appeal fails, and it will fail because he is objectively guilty by his and his associates own admission, he will own even more money that he can't really afford.

This should only happen if the appellate court also believed the damages should be lower. From the looks of things, they did not say that. Only a benefit to Trump for no explained reason.
