Interesting. Background would indeed imply Leah or Cain, can't think of anyone else who would fit into it. Male Wizard perhaps? Or that Sorceress follower, can't remember her name (or maybe even D2 Sorc?). Perhaps dark wanderer, there was a lot of rumour that Aidan might make it into the Nexus a while back (iirc, he was in the leak that got like 5 heroes right, and he was the only one missing).
Rules out Angels and Demons though, shame, was hoping for Imperius. Slim chances for Zoltan Kulle I guess?
My guesses are either Aidan or Deckard Cain, hopefully. Leah is a possibility, but i find her the most boring choice among all possible Diablo characters and hope its not her... she was already boring in D3, "hey look i can spout exposition and shoot with a bow". I guess well see.
I'm aware, but he doesn't actually say or do much after the very barebones Cube quest. Also, it's a clone according to the lorebooks you get from the Cube.
That's been a very persistent rumour, but it's false. That leak did not contain Aidan, only the heroes up until Alexstrasza (Hanzo was leaked later).

It could be Lazarus? Kinda doubt it, though. Leah, Cain or Aidan seem to be the most likely. Can't think of another character that's associated with the cathedral outside of ones already in the game. I guess there's an outside chance of Andariel but I don't think they'd use a cathedral background for her. I don't really see Cain working either, like, what would he even do? He's never been know for any type of prowess on the battlefield, not even as a support/bard type.
I'd rather have Cain as just an announcer. I have a really hard time seeing him as, like, an actual combatant on the battlefield of the Nexus. Likewise, while I like Leah as a character, she didn't really do much in combat, unless they have her draw upon some of Diablo's power while fighting, or something.
I'd be happy if it turned out to be Adria. She's up there with Zoltan Kulle as a D3 "minor antagonist" that I eventually wanted to see added to HotS. I also feel like they could do something cool with the blood magic she used during the fight with her in Reaper of Souls.
As someone who played a Rogue in D1 and never finished D2, I have no strong feelings about Aidan, so I'd be kind of "Meh" if it turned out to be him, unless his kit was particularly interesting.
In general, while I'm glad that it seems like we're finally gonna be getting another Diablo character, I'm disappointed that it's very unlikely to be Imperius after all.

Scroll down in that reddit thread and people have pointed out that the stained glass in the background is the same from the Hanzo and Alex video.

Just reposting the image from the thread.
I think Leah/Cain as a dual hero could work. You get to control them both, Leah is a 'half assassin' seeing how she wouldn't nake much sense as a full fledged hero, she is basically Misha/d.va pilot worth of hero. She can fight a bit but her main purpose is map objectives.
Cain would be Abathut-easque, doesnt fight, you put him in safr places to soak xp, heros can collect globes and return them to Cain for buffs or extra xp. He can also have some global abilities like a summon or some Horadric magic.
Essentially you would have two half heroes. I think it would be cool. The exciting thing about Cain is that he will most likely be uniqur specialist.
Don't worry about OW. They already used most of viable heroes. Rest of them can't be easily implemented, because
Tanks:
- Orisa, Reinhardt and Winston use mechanic which doesn't exist in HotS - impenetrable shield (which stops dmg but pass up heroes). In HotS u can shoot and cast through buildings and terrain so no idea how it would work. Probably it needs a changes in game engine which is highly unlikely. (Also Orisa uses similar model to Phoenix and ppl will rant if they get him only as a skin).
-Roadhog - skillset too similiar to Stitches
Supports:
- Mercy - just Medic + Auriel ress
- Symmetra - impenetrable shield + her aa doesn't make sense in HotS.
- Moira - technically a Li Ming with possibility to heal
- Zenyatta - could be implemented but his skillset is rather poor, throwing heals on allies and debuffs on enemies is too similar to Stukov
Assassins/Specialists:
- Doomfist - could be implemented (ult looks like Johanna's one, but oh well...)
- McCree - Greymane without worgen form
- Pharah - flying hero, probably impossible to implement
- Reaper - Valla
- Soldier: 76 - poor skillset similar to Raynor's one
- Sombra - not sure about her, in HotS she would be like Tracer with silences, even more annoying
- Bastion - machine gun Sgt. Hammer, but probably with shorter range
- Mei - freeze, icebolt shot, iceblock, aoe freeze - Jaina anyone?
- Torbjorn - builds a turret (similar to a mercenery one) and gathers parts - too Gazlowy
- Widowmaker - poor skillset and already a Nova skin
Thought the first teaser would come today, it’ll have to come tomorrow if they’re going to announce the hero at the Western Clash.
Wall shatters scattering the books to reveal its reinhardt fighting anu berak alongside greymane
I will always disagree vehemently on this one as the only similarity they share is the Hook and that they a self-heal, except Roadhog's would work more similarly to Zul'jin's heal. Roadhog would also be ranged and have a zoning AoE Ult that's a cone of damage with a pushback (and could involve roadhog moving towards the cursor while it is active). Meanwhile he still has a passive, second ult and another ability (although it will likely be his alt-fire where he fires a more directed, longer ranged burst of scrap) to further differentiate himself from Abercrombie's creation.
They could always give Sym her old Shielding ability back to make her closer to Tassadar, while Moira can be done a bit differently and have a passive that changes how two of her abilities work (Orbs + 1 extra) or toggle between attacking and healing.
Also Medivh and Falstad are flying heroes. Pharah can be implemented (although seems kinda bland)
Probius year ago was announced on IEM too right? Anyone remember it was on first or second day?
