Why were Final Fantasy 6,7, and 9 so memorable and why can’t Square replicate them?

Final fantasy 9 was so memorable it had the lowest sales of all modern FFs, no real fanbase outside of reddit fedoras and practically 0 attention from square(no x-2, no remake, no zodiac edition, no trilogies, etc).

Had a Steam re release and PS4 digital re release.

Also X-2 is one game I'd like to forget personally. For their first foray into a true sequel it was garbage.

Only game in the series getting a remake is 7. Zodiac edition of 12 existed long before Zodiac Age. We just got an improved western version.

By your own logic 8 had barely any attention then since all it had was a Steam re-release?

In fact if anything 8 is the one that lacks the attention given to it by Square because all they did with it was re release it on Steam.

Not a fan of 9 personally.

It's good. But couldn't ever get into it much. Kuja was still a pretty cool fight though nonetheless.

I wouldn't rank it top 5 but I'd say around 8th.
