    Why is parry still a thing (raids)

    I think it's one of the few outdates mechanics still left in the game

    it's just an old archaic RPG element that has no place anymore in the game.

    it's sole purpose right now is nothing but to frustrate the shit out of melee dps.

    it's not even about "bad melee hitting the boss from the front"

    on some bosses you have to do that, and even when you dont when the boss just gets turned around for a second and ends up parrying a crucial ability it's devastating and not fun at all

    not to mention completely random.

    I think it should go away, it really has no place in the game anymore.

    I didnt mind it in vanilla/TBC it was fine then and made sense for the type of game wow was back then. back then if the boss parried an ability you went "oh well a little dmg loss"
    now when he parries a cooldown like DFA/kinsbane/colossus smash etc you might as well just stop cos your whole fight is fucked.

    but it doesnt work anymore.

    Do you mean bosses parrying and dodging attacks from the front? Because for melee DPS and tanks, having parry is important for solo content, raids and pvp

    When hit was removed parry should have as well.

    As a tank i kinda want all of these back:

    Dodge
    Parry
    Expertise
    Hit cap
    Defense cap

    That made the game more fun to me.

    If Blizz did this, they would get endless flak for "dumbing down the game"...lol

    Of course, I completely agree with the OP. I just think I would need more popcorn to see folks freak out about it.

    True but also untrue, sure the game is a fast paced ARPG for the last 6-7 years but it has kept a few RPG elements still.

    It needs to exist as a mechanic so they can simply tone the tank oriented abilities easily for themselves.

    Also, the insane whining about how its not WoW anymore but a different game for "kiddies".

    Cause clearing LFR and losing every BG = player with opinion on how the game is.

    and sacrifice the fun ofmelee dps in the process? and anyway waht does that even mean? they could tune tanks around the boss not parrying their attacks easily lol

    Fun fact, bosses with no reachable side or backside don't parry.

    The reason bosses can parry but not deflect spells is because it's a lot easier to strafe around a boss than it is to move behind it as a ranged. One of the benefits that makes melee not the only DPS role. Removing parry from bosses would skew the balance a little bit in favor of melee, which isn't good.

    That said, bring back dodge, parry, and miss for raid bosses. Without reforging those stats once again give valuable gearing choices. Especially now that tier sets are gone.

    As others said, that type of boss never parries.

    Game has changed multiple times, as example the movementspeed reaction of mobs from 400ms to 20ms is a tank change, mobs twitching like retards etc.

    Some things simply exist for RPG elements to make a few things more RPGishlogic.

    another fun fact, you cant always stay at the back of the boss due to raidtax things (like harjatan for example)

    another fun fact bosses do turn around to do shit all the time, and they parry shit all the time.

    it has zero possitive effects on the game

    anyone spouting "it still needs it cos wow is an rpg"

    well then why is this basically the only rpg element left in the game?

    if we still had expertise/hit/defense/ all that shit we used to and wow was actually an RPG, I wouldnt want it gone

    but now its an arcade game, and parry is no longer something the game needs, it's just in cos they forgot to remove it.

    all it does now, is annoy the shit out of melees

    They already don't parry tanks, we get old expertise cap (15%) where everyone else gets 7.5 because melee are supposed to be behind the boss. If you can't be behind the boss often they CAN'T parry. So IDK what the issue is other than you got one important ability parried once because you were tunneling DPS.

    Man did these guys get lucky. 1409 melee swings and a couple thousand melee abilities on Helya and not a single one got parried.
