It will take forever it seems.
My feeling, is that just like the FF7 remake, this was announced too soon.
Here is something to believe in!
I wouldn't expect it until at the eariest mid BFA and likely during the tail end of BFA (So a year-ish from now eariest a 1.5 years roughly at the longest). Mostly depending on how the expansion is going. If it is a sinking ship like all the negitive folks are saying it will be classic will release sooner to push some sand on the poop. If BFA ends up being in the ball park of a success Legion was than likely not until its final year of sitting around doing nothing time.
I approve of this thread
I hope Blizcon will have an Alpha Anouncement for later this year. Mid BfA as a release date still seems like the most reasonable assumption.

"And all those exclamation marks, you notice? Five?
A sure sign of someone who wears his underpants on his head."

Mark my words.
I think they knew they would get a decent amount of disappointment from bfa. Especially since they've kept a tight lid on who the xpac is really about. So they decided to tell us that basicly they're gonna start working on classic wow, and from the last update about it, it seemed like they were just figuring all the core basics that would need to happen for a classic server to work so I'd guess mid to late 2019
Back end of 2019/early 2020. Won't be any sooner than that.
November '19, to celebrate the 15 years of the original release.
hopefully never
