That’s a red flag more than anything based on how bad she’s been in the comics lately.
Her series in the 2010s has been rebooted like, what? 3 or 4 times? I fail to understand by what logic is that good.
And Mrs Marvel has also been rebooted about 4 times as well.

I find it mindboggling because Wonder Woman was awesome and they didn't pull this kind of bullcrap. So why do they think this is going to help in any way?
And speaking of which now they're trying to erase her existence with "the greatest female superhero ever" slogans or such.

I'll watch it when it hits Netflix/New Disney streaming in a year or so.

I don't give a fuck about people's political leanings. When you say shit like "there needs to be less white people here" and actively try to force them out like she did. She loses the moral high ground and everyone should be calling her a racist for it. If she said the same thing against black people or Jews would you even be on the side you're on now?

Being racist isn't a political leaning. Everyone on the entire political spectrum can be a racist. The fact that you'd agree with her makes you a racist as well.

Her recent re-origin (The Life of Captain Marvel) was actually pretty decent actually. But yeah outside of that her main comic has been a massive letdown for the past 5 years. I do hope it gets better, as I used to love Captain Marvel in the 90's.

That could very well stand true for Captain Marvel; in which case these fools are only whipping themselves up into an impotent rage.

It's not healthy for them. Like I said, they should get a more productive hobby.
    This, everything.
First of all critics deserve 0 trust nowadays especially when it comes with politically and culturally charged movies like TLJ.
No way in hell they were gonna pan an obviously feminist-driven movie like that. It just wasn't going to happen, either because of tribalism or because of fear of the guaranteed retaliation if they dared talk badly of those elements, which were objectively bad.

Second, Captain Marvel is indeed showing signs of the same illness. Between the trailer "you're a girl so you can't do ass" version of men that don't actually exist and Brie Larson's comments... the signs are here. Not as strong as ghostbusters 2016 but you can smell the stink.
Personally I'm not gonna risk it, not again. One ghostbusters and one TLJ was more than enough, I'm gonna wait some months and plenty of reviews before deciding to give this movie my money.

Third, TLJ's billions in earning mean little to nothing in term of quality. It was Star Wars after all, it was gonna make money regardless if only out of fan's hope for a good movie. What actually matters to judge are the earnings after that, after that hope had been squashed... and guess what, Solo was far from being a success.

And no it's not Star Wars fatigue, it's feminist driven propaganda fatigue. We watch movies to escape reality and have fun, not to have our minds changed into the "good thinking".

    Dumb post is dumb.

The guy said he goes to watch movies to watch movies. He is able to separate movies and the political shit that happens off stage with actors / actresses. This doesn't make him racist. It makes him a person who enjoys movies.

what you just said doesn't have anything to do what the poster you quoted said.

Thing is, those comments weren't made in a vacuum. It wasn't Brie Larson talking, it was Brie Larson (Cpt.Marvel) talking at a press conference about the movie.
And the trailer shown signs of that same mentality/ideology.

It's an entirely justifiable fear, and so you can't in this case separate the art from the artist like you would with Chris Evans or Mark Ruffalo.

The mere sign that people are arguing about this dumb bullshit in this thread is a great reason to ignore this movie.

    i haven't seen it.
i wanted to, but after seeing how the protagonist is a narrow-minded racist sob,
i don't want to be part of any success she might get credit for.

Because there is this race to be the most inclusive person alive. Whether or not there are even enough journos of the race/sex/etc that Brie wants is another topic. It just comes off as a dumb thing to say.

Or was it generic anti female lead rage that has no place anymore with an established comic character. I am curious how much "shit" you think you know that we don't.

The movie doesn't look compelling to me, but I've never read the comics either. Hopefully it will break some new ground, because the last super hero movie I saw (Aquaman) was basically just a cut and paste comic movie filled with zingers, 3-point landings that crack the cement and massive punches that don't really hurt anyone.

That's not what she said, she stated she wanted more diversity in the press pool of interviewers and film reviewers.

Here's a link. It's a Variety article, but has video of her addressing it so that should be pretty straightforward.

Do you know what the difference between bigotry and racism is? Politics.

Saying you hate someone because of their race/sex/etc is bigotry. Enacting policies that hurt someone because of their race/sex/etc is racism.

The first part of your post has different implications than the second. While it's true that most people probably don't care what the actor thinks, those actors aren't attacking the viewers themselves. I think that's the biggest difference here. Chris Evans and Mark Ruffalo do say very left winged things, but they're usually attacking Trump or some other entity. Not the MCU's fanbase.

The biggest takeaway is that the people mad at Brie feel personally attacked rather than attacked by association through politics. I'm not going to say that there also isn't sexism thrown into the mix, but the mix of these parts is making a lot of noise.

Ignoring bullshit politics, anyone just think the movie looks bland? The previews have been awful and I've been completely ignoring press around this movie. I'm a close to a untainted viewer as possible...

I called that this movie was going to flop in the 2019 flop thread... Unfortunately nothing has really changed, I mean what's the selling point here? You'd think marvel would have went all out on a character that is lesser known to casual movie fans. If you look at other lesser known marvel character movies, AntMan, Black Panther, GotG, Marvel went all out in those. The casts are phenomenal, cgi top notch, but jesus... This looks like green lantern.

The Future is Female. I dig the trailer I seen. However since I’m not into super hero movies. I’d not likely see it. Hope it does well though.
