Well, what did you expect them to do, argue the facts and merits of the case?

The funny part is, Trump was trying to extort Ukraine into investigating the election he already won (with Russia's help). I can't think of anything that subverts democracy more than "the person who cheated tries to create fictional evidence that his opponent cheated by more".
