Character undelete to change name - does Blizz allow it?

Hello. So if you delete your character, wait 30 days, have a friend take your name, undelete your character, you have to change its name. This is an easy way to change your name in classic, be it that you do have to wait 30 days. Im definitely ready to wait 30 days cause I really want to change my name. However, I'm afraid Blizzard does not allow this and just makes you take your old name when they find out, making me miss 30 days of raiding / gearing for nothing.

I think it does not allow you to restore the character. Never tried with someone's else character. But if you do it with your own, it does not allow you to restore the character.
