If you close because you can't do minimum wage then it's no surprise you closed. Just think, if customers weren't paying part of their salaries anyways through tips those restaurants would have closed anyways. The fact that restaurants already had a protection to pay less and paying their employees more caused this then I give no shits to their poor business handling.
Posting Fox News and complaining about liberals makes your post all the more adorable.

Oh no, not the jobs that pay poverty wages! What ever will we do without them?
If your business model relies on your customers subsidizing your payroll expenses in addition to paying for your services, maybe you should close down
I'm sure this is a totally unbiased news piece not selectively misrepresenting information to convey a fictional narrative.
Cool we should just lower all wages to 0 then. I mean, that's logical right? Lower wages means more jobs and more businesses! Just think of all the money consumers will be able to spend!
Oh, wait...
Human progress isn't measured by industry. It's measured by the value you place on a life.
Just, be kind.
If a bussiness can not pay its employees living wages, it does not deserve to exist.
Pushing for minimum wage increases is no different than pushing immigration restrictions. It artificially unbalances the competitive marketplace,
It's a shame the OP cannot be consistent.
You enjoy posting random Star Trek threads, well guess what, buttercup: in that fictional universe, humans don't need money anymore because all their needs are met by the society they live in. But here in reality people do need money. And if businesses refuse to pay people enough to not live in poverty despite working full-time, something has to change.
This is awesome. So on one hand the complaint is that the minimum wage supposedly forced the business to close down, on the other hand it is stated the she is working two jobs. Am I the only one not seeing the irony here?
I am a conservative, and I see this as a good thing. If a business cannot pay its workers a decent wage and still make a profit, then it doesn't deserve to keep operating. The business models of these restaurants depended on the charity of their customers to pay their employees. That is a ridiculous business model that doesn't work anywhere else.
A business should be able to pay a living wage to its workers, full stop. If someone has to be giving your workers additional money, just so they can survive, your business is not contributing to the economy, it is surviving on charity.
Oh wow, the OP being schooled be people that have 2 brain cells to rub together.
If democrats were more focused on destroying the Constitution and less worried about socialist programs this country would be..... uh..... nvm.
No, it's not. Youtube of Fox Business is perhaps one of the most ridiculous sources of information available.
Raising the minimum wage is good for everyone. From the U.S. Government.
I mean we could theoretically lower wages even closer to slave labor, creating more "jobs."
What are you proposing? We haven't kept up with inflation in the minimum wage, so people cannot live off it, and automation is an increasingly valid option. Doubling down to something like UBI at least proposes a solution out of this. It's a matter of whether it'd actually work.
Same here. As a conservative, I see these businesses closing as a good thing. Too many conservatives like to worship business no matter how scummy that business is. If your business cannot operate and pay your employees a decent wage, then that is what we call a failed business. Companies that rely on government subsidies, paying low wages, and shitty business practices need to disappear.
The Republican party used to support business practices that protected both the consumer and the employee, while propping up successful and good businesses that made money. It's disgusting to see so many conservatives worship at the feet of Wal mart and other companies that suck taxpayer money up through state socialism.
Honestly, putting some thought into it, it's kind of a double layored problem. Inflation has devalued currency across the board, meaning smaller employers are still burdened with the cost of business on top of the wage they should be paying their employees.
A multi-million/billion dollar corporation can eat these kinds of costs, but this is just another thing that's going to fuck middle America in the next decade if it's not addressed right. Though I guess making an environment hostile to budding/local businesses while also keeping employees stranded in their dead-end jobs is kind of the end-goal for a lot of these fuckers.
Oh noes. Less minimum wage jobs. We were totally running out of those.
