The polls were certainly off in some places, but once all the votes are counted I think it will show they were within the margin of error for the most part. We'll have to wait another month or so to know for sure.

Which is exactly what happened to Jeff Sessions. He resigned, Trump tried to fill the seat with a pedophile so a democrat took it. Then Trump fired Sessions.
Presumably Biden isn't going to screw people over quite that hard. However, when appointing a senator or congressman to the cabinet they have to weigh the consequences of doing so. For instance, Elizabeth Warren is staying in the Senate, because if she was to be given a cabinet post, her seat would go to a Republican (Because Charlie Baker is Governor of Mass.).
What constantly pisses me off is this whole "rural is the RRAL MURICA".
America is where Americans live. Incidentally that happens to be in cities.
Our electoral system is so fucked that somehow the majority of the population is being lorded over by a minority who doesn't just have the ego to think they know everything better by the virtue of their rural ruggedness but go beyond to deriding the majority of population as "not the real Americans".
Fuck this shit.

There's always Ivanka, Kushner, Melania, Don Jr. etc. Never underestimate nepotism. Even with Biden winning this race, every 4 years for awhile we're going to have to contend with some new head of the hydra that just won't die because white supremacists and internet memelords seem to share political alignments, and the Republican party has gone from "Slightly nuts but overall likeable" to "LOL HONK HONK PEEPOCLOWN DEMS SUCK. TRUMP 2080!"

I have no doubt about it.
People who think he's finished are living in a dreamland. He's going to get so much $$ and influence out of this that he and his family is set for life, even with all this noise, lawsuits and what not that might or might not manifest.
He will start off by pushing his kids through party ranks and will end with having a big say who will run 2024 red-side. And Republicans will have to live with that, because they know that just like Bernie Sanders or even more than that - he will have millions of people doing whatever he says they should do in 2024.

It depends. Does Trump keep a stranglehold over the base? if so Trump Jr might run, which trump will be out in full force with. But financial and legal woes and everything else coming to the trump family, i think it's a safe bet that over the next series of months maybe a year or a little more than a year, people will start to forget trump. a years of new cycles without trump on them, people will have stopped thinking about the guy altogether. These people have short memories.

This three dimensional population map also gives you a good idea of how the country is split up. Most of the USA (where the red is) is vast open nothingness with a couple of people living on every few hundred acres.
If you want to hear a (not so) funny story, we have legitimately had Republicans come in here, look at those red/blue county maps, and say without a hint of irony that the US should go back to land owners being the only ones allowed to vote.

Why haven't they called the election for Biden yet?
