No, I've identified two people in this thread as incels based on their blatantly obvious rhetoric and views, and near as I can tell both of those darts landed squarely where they were aimed. I'm not trying to psychoanalyze here, the tells are just plain as day.

This thread isn't really the place to discuss this, but there are clear and obvious overlaps in the audiences of IDW / alt-right conservative political commentators like Shapiro, Crowder, Pool, and Peterson, the "get woke go broke" pop culture and entertainment channels, and the whole incel movement.

They all share the same basic white male victim narratives.

If someone is angry about inclusivity in Star Wars or feminism ruining America, I'm not exactly going out on a limb when I guess that they probably also subscribe to guys like Sargon and Jordan Peterson and think they can't get any because women aren't attracted to "nice guys."

And in the interest of staying at least somewhat on topic, it's also not going out on a limb to assume that they also support Trump's particular strain of authoritarian conservatism.

Wildly off topic, but I don't understand why they went after inclusivity in Star Wars as a rallying cry. Star Wars has always been inclusive by Hollywood standards - the OT had Princess Leia and Mon Mothma are strong women in leadership roles, the disparate alien races joining the rebellion was an allegory for a diverse society, and the Imperials were an allegory for Nazis.

Like if you want to bitch about The Last Jedi, bitch that it threw out all the plot threads from The Force Awakens, that the pacing was utterly awful, that entire sequences of the movie could have been deleted without affecting the plot in any meaningful way (or the character development for that matter, since all those threads were dropped in The Rise of Skywalker), that the strong woman in a leadership role made a catastrophic tactical error by not bringing in any of the fleet officers on her plan, that the backstory regarding Luke becoming a depressed hermit was flimsy at best, and that rather than use Carrie Fisher's death as a reason to honor her character and continue with the example she set 40 years ago for strong women leading the Rebellion, they opted to kill off a fan favorite character on a whim, they killed off the new strong woman they created for that movie, and they let Leia continue to run the Resistance for another movie using deleted scenes and CGI.

There were plenty of valid criticisms that weren't "Well women are in leadership roles and the black dude and the asian chick have a thing going which makes me uncomfortable".

Yeah, I'd imagine the majority of people whose day-to-day career job this actually is and who function on a state-level, whether they be democrat or republican, are not tremendously happy with Trump and the GOP playing some national-level game of political intrigue while using them as pawns. And he's absolutely right that the GOP senators being mum to this whole thing are equally complicit in it. They know Trump has lost. But instead of doing and saying what's both obvious and right, they're afraid of pulling the fantasy rug out from Trump's feet for fear of their own constituency turning against them.

Seeing the depths that Trump and co. are stooping to, and knowing that he and they were this malicious, this petty, and this morally bankrupt the whole time and would have continued to be in the future... I'm so, so glad Biden won.

Honestly I have a few cents to toss into this discussion; It's increasingly difficult these days to actually have legitimate critiques or discussions about the flaws of media when you end up getting lumped into the pile of mouth breathers who dislike something for entirely inane or stupid reasons.

Fuck, look at how Gamergate went down. There were legitimate grievances about the quality of gaming journalism at the time, but the whole movement got derailed by sexist dipshits and gatekeepers who were then used as scapegoats against anyone who still had legitimate grievances to share.

Though on topic now, it looks like the newest Conspiracy about Voter fraud involves Dominion being owned by the Chinese Government or something. Because they're cheap.

A good droid can cost thousands of credits. A good slave can cost a few hundred. Droid resources weren't in any greater supply than water or food. Oil, parts, a good mechanic were also in short supply, and typically far more expensive. Many families on backwater worlds (like the Skywalkers) are born into slavery. Little Anakin isn't a slave because Watto bought him, he's a slave because Watto owned Shimi, and therefore owns Anakin.
