    Warhammer 40,000: SPACE MARINE 2

It's finally happening and Titus is back and looks like he crossed the rubicon becoming a primaris. Amazing trailer too and this time we are slaughtering Tyranids. Wonder if this is set during the Indomitus Crusade perhaps we will even see Demigod Roboute Guilliman himself.

    YES! Finally!

Hoping it will have co-op haven’t got around to playing the first one because my single player game list ain’t got no room but could easily fit it into playing with friends.
All I ever wanted was the truth. Remember those words as you read the ones that follow. I never set out to topple my father's kingdom of lies from a sense of misplaced pride. I never wanted to bleed the species to its marrow, reaving half the galaxy clean of human life in this bitter crusade. I never desired any of this, though I know the reasons for which it must be done. But all I ever wanted was the truth.

I waited a god damn decade for this!!! Praise to the Emperor!
Good to see it survived the fall of THQ after all, one of the best W40k games made and by itself it was a quite nice 3rd person shooter.

PURGE THE XENOS ! THE EMPEROR PROTECTS !

I just hope the dev team knows what they are doing because their portfolio is not great.

Interesting he appears to be in Primaris armour. I wonder if its just because the less "angry pig face" helmets have more appeal to the tacticool crowd or his resistance to corruption had him pushed forward for the Primaris Space Marine upgrade program.

If thats true i wonder if we will finally see even a minute of Guilliman in a videogame.

I mean, it can not not be. There were no primaris marines before that, and the crusade is ongoing across the whole Imperium. The Tyranids must be from Hive Fleet Leviathan, and I'm going to bet right here they are only the initial enemy like Orks were in the original game, and Chaos will be the main one. Can't really have Tyranids as antagonists in a story-driven game, and this can't be a pure shoot em up. Apparently Ultrasmurfs were doing some fighting against Iron Warriors around this time period, and I think Iron Warriors would be amazing antagonists for a character like Titus, who's capable of seeing shades of grey. Giving Black Legion or random Khornites a rest for once would be a nice change, too.

Being fair, Guilliman is in Battlefleet 2. As a portrait for his XBOXHUEG flagship and like 3 voicelines but still!

Stoked for SM2 as well. The first game did a particularly good job of making melee and ranged combat seamlessly flow together as befits a Spess Mehreen, and from the gameplay snippets at the end it looks like the swarms of Tyranids are even bigger than the onrushes of Orcs in the first one which promises much glorious slaughter in the Emprah's good name.

My two worries are that the 'Nids have literal nothing in the way of personality which makes it hard for them to be interesting antagonists, and that it's not Relic doing it but a dev team that still has to make its mark. But we'll see in time.

First game had SUDDEN Chaos forces, so I am sure something can be figured out.
About your second point - yeah, Focus Interactive has this thing with close to, but not an actual AAA level games (can easily be noticed by the 40 usd/eur/gbp prices with all that it entails) and they, IIRC, do not have a single top level game.

I think you could really impress the power gap with a playable sequence as him that makes the astartes look like a havelbuild dark souls character and a primarch like dante with his devil trigger.

As for the nids i think in part theres been a lot of set up that in 40k the tyranids are finally going to attack terra and side media has been touching on that which could explain the choice but they also on an imperial world could easily mix things up with the genestealer cult.

Would be pretty cool if midway through a level the imperial guard you have been escorting suddenly turn on you revealling extra arms and forehead chitin.

A considerable amount of time has went by. He has four service studs now, I think he had 2-3 in the first game.

He has 2 gold service studs in the first game, here he has 4, so around 200 years, 1 gold service stud is 100 years of service.

OP: Finally we get SM2! Praise the Emperor!

I do hope there's another enemy type, but also that it's not sudden Chaos yet again. That trope is so played out in 40K games. I'd rather it be something like Necrons or hell even Dark Eldar or something, an enemy you rarely fight. Or Imperial forces recently turned to heresy, something along those lines.

@dope_danny Titus was already a cut above standard Mehreens as a Captain with mysterious Warp resistance, now he's also a Primaris with four centuries of experience per the service studs. He's not Primarch level but he's still way above a fresh-faced Astartes on his own so I expect him to be quite the Doom Slayer-esque murder machine in this one. Guilliman isn't really needed if you ask me.

Genestealer Cults do sound like a good way to add at least some personality to the antagonistic side and a decent twist. But I'm still wondering what's going on story-wise beyond the whole shoot-the-Xeno-in-the-face shenanigans. Last we saw Titus he was being investigated for possible heresy. Now the story happens many years later and he's still a Captain, so I guess the investigation turned out to his advantage but I still don't expect them to just drop that plot point.

About time, just hope they can recapture the epic feeling of the first game of being a spess mahrine which is what made it good, since everything else was fairly mediocre (enemies levels story etc). Not the same devs tho (relic), dunno who the new ones are or what they made.

I thought that story was terrific in the first game. Perfect genre fiction. Leandros being an absolute little bitch was great!
