"Law and Order", lots of places have had that, Russia, North Korea, Saddam's Iraq.
Laws can be made to enforce order of cruelty and brutality.

Mitch McConnell just blew up Joe Manchin's bipartisan dream
Gotta see this as a closer path to killing the Filibuster. Manchin just needs good reasons to kill the Filibuster, imo. And he must know that the second Moscow Mitch gets power back he will kill it as well.

I mean, if they made the filibuster "real" and made Senators actually get up to talk, it's got majority popularity in WV already (60%) so he doesn't need to make that play.

He just likes the filibuster and is trying to protect it. So it needs to be made clear to him that Republicans have no interest in bipartisanship. I hope he takes what McConnell says seriously, though at this point I sadly doubt it. He wants to keep donors happy, because why the fuck push for election reform when you can do something like spend most of your term dialing for dollars?!
Because McConnell says it's a Democratic power grab - https://www.courier-journal.com/stor...ay/2725081002/
Republicans aren't going to mandate time off to allow people to more easily vote if they can have the power to stop it.

Getting rid of the filibuster would not make him the key vote. It would actually have the opposite effect. All it would do is bring more republicans to the bargaining table because they know it's going to pass with or without them, and they'll be going for their piece. Essentially when the filibuster is gone, the corporations can stop funneling him money and just ask another one of their guys that are also corrupted in the GoP to just go along with what's being passed. Manchin loses a ton of power if filibuster is gone.

It's actually pretty simple. Filibuster dies. Now most bills only need majority. Republican comes to table, asks for this one small provision(that helps their donor) for said republican's agreement to vote on said bill, that's essentially gonna get passed since they have no power as a minority with the filibuster gone. Everyone is gonna be looking for their little bite at each bill here and there. I mean, killing the filibuster guarantee's more bipartisan bills in the senate get passed. And most of these bills that are passed are viewed as actually popular, so it puts them on the right side of the vote, instead of the wrong side, which makes it harder for their opponents to attack. Death of the fillibuster will help centrist dem's and purple state republicans immensely.

And if one or more Republicans votes yes on each of those bills, it becomes a huge feather in the Democrats' cap for proving that getting rid of the filibuster boosted bipartisanship. The GoP leadership won't want that to happen, so will come down hard on people getting their little piece.
That's my point, no "little piece" is going to be worth being ostracized by the GoP PTB.

And you think that big dark money donors are gonna want them breaking ranks regularly...why? They want them voting as a block, and while McCarthy may have little to no control over House Republicans, McConnell has a near iron fist over Senate Republicans. Sure, he lets them rabble rouse and do dumb shit, but when it comes time to vote he delivers them. One of the few notable exceptions is McCain killing Trumpcare.
