Folly and fakery have always been with us... but it has never before been as dangerous as it is now, never in history have we been able to afford it less. - Isaac Asimov
Every damn thing you do in this life, you pay for. - Edith Piaf
The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command. - Orwell
No amount of belief makes something a fact. - James Randi
Not a Trump supporter lmao. I don't understand this mindset - wouldn't it be better to give the reigns of the party to someone who actually produces results and resonates with younger voters on progressive issues rather than someone who has a losing track record and only ticks the demographic boxes that Dems like to waive as some sort of substitution for actual policies and vision?
Or to put it simply - what has Harrison done that proves he's capable of moving the party in the right direction?

Have y'all seen 'ol "Neoliberal Austerity Fan" Joe Biden's first stimulus plan?
$1.9 Trillion in total
$1,400 check to everyone to get to the $2K with the $600 being distributed now
$400 in additional unemployment benefits per week through September
$15/h federal minimum wage
Eviction/foreclosure moratorium
$350B to state and local governments to help make up for budget gaps for much needed services
$170B for schools
$50B for covid testing
$20B addition to the vaccine program
Expanded child tax credit
Just dreadful.
Bingo. Getting someone in who understands the South in a similar - but not as jaw droppingly effective - way to Stacey Abrams is a smart call. If the Dems want long term control of the Senate, they need to turn Philly, Wisconsin and another state fully blue. That’ll properly put pressure on the GOP.
WOW it all but took 7 minutes for the comments sections of the internet to fill with comments of
"oh there goes joe bankrupting our country"
"where's he going to get all this money from"
"how can we afford more debt"
etc etc
after he released his stimulus plan
So freaking predictable after 7.8 trillion in debt in the last 4 years
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/01/14/bide...imum-wage.html
Here’s what Biden calls for:
Direct payments of $1,400 to most Americans, bringing the total relief to $2,000, including December’s $600 payments
Increasing the federal, per-week unemployment benefit to $400 and extending it through the end of September
Increasing the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour
Extending the eviction and foreclosure moratoriums until the end of September
$350 billion in state and local government aid
$170 billion for K-12 schools and institutions of higher education
$50 billion toward Covid-19 testing
$20 billion toward a national vaccine program in partnership with states, localities and tribes
Making the Child Tax Credit fully refundable for the year and increasing the credit to $3,000 per child ($3,600 for a child under age 6)
this is all great.
They should also exclude all those states whom cried about democrats wanting to bail out state govt since of course they don't need to be bailed out like the democratic run states....so we can just give the 350b to the states that need it. right guys, republicans said they didn't need it. Starting with Kentucky, Florida and Texas. Hey Elections have consequences right guys?

It doesn't matter if you explain to people that it's the 600 + 1400. It will cause friction and piss off a lot of voters while giving ammunition to haters. There's no reason not to avoid these problems. Bump it to 2k so it ends up being 2600 and move on to other business.
I don't need 14k in backpay or 2k a month, but the 400 extra bringing it 700 a week in unemployment is really good, but that should definitely should be retroactive from when it went down to 300, because moratoriums mean jack when the piper still needs to be paid eventually. I mean 2k would be optimal yeah especially with how many are struggling, but it's also i feel wishful thinking in this political climate, 15 dollars an hour, imo really should be 23 dollars an hour, but again, wishful thinking.
It's not just Fox.
And I agree. Marginal fiscal savings at the cost of a lot of political goodwill and creating a vulnerability isn't a good way to start off the next legislative session.Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) says Dems should pass $2K on top of the $600 from December, rather than add $1,400 to get $600 to $2K.
"$2,000 means $2,000. $2,000 does not mean $1,400,″
This is such an easy political win even Joe Manchin's voters can understand it.

I have some suggestions:
Turf the Trump Tax Cuts
Treat Capital Gains Tax as the same as Income Tax
Greatly increase IRS and SEC funding
Luxury tax on anything made out of gold. Especially if it’s a toilet.
1400 instead of 2,000 to "complete the 600" Talk about being out of touch.
Going to be interesting to see moderates govern without a clown they do look great.

See, this is where the understanding of what's going on falls apart. Most Democrats/centrists/liberals don't hate or even oppose Bernie - It's Bernie's devout cult that acts exactly like Trump's cult, that is hated. They are some of the most unreasonable people on the face of the planet, and will curse your name if you are not on board with the leftist purity tests they throw out.

Unshockingly, the United States fucked up the response to COVID in every single category. Even our thought process on this is fucked, even from the side of our better angels. Only a few Democrats argued that we should include ongoing monthly payments (like every other western country provided it's citizens) and that never got off the ground.
Did you know (this is for everyone, not you Vegas):
-Canada doesn't have any more ongoing COVID cases nation wide, and they are now socially engaging, within their provinces (with medical response teams headed to COVID hot-spots when they do happen
-New Zealand has a LOWER mortality rate in 2020 than previous years, overall
People make jabs at the Saudi government for pissing away the greatest national resource in the history of the world, but I think if history is allowed to be written objectively 200 years from now, the United States will actually get the overall award.
