I see a lot of people bemoaning how Anduin will suffer 0 consequences because he's mind controlled.

I think his temporary "death knight" state is irrelevant, but what DOES matter is what will come later. Will the trauma lead him into believing stronger in the importance of violence to assert one's beliefs and make him a "hardened" leader? Will he lose faith in the light and turn to the void for power?

Anduin's consequences seem to be set up to start piling up AFTER he is freed. At least that's what I'd do if I had my hand on the story.

i assume he was only able to leave the maw because he wasnt dead.

It's not clear yet how he leaves the Maw. I suppose the Jailer could have his Mawsworns Kyrian sent him out, but the presence of Kleia in the cinematic suggests to me that we will actually be the ones to free him in a new Bolvar quest. We bring him to Bastion and tell Kleia to ask for an audience, then shit hits the fan.

I know that by now dissing Golden is kind of a sport here, but ... she has literally written the book on the Lich King and his inner transformation from Arthas to Death Knight Arthas to Lich King Arthas. So it's kinda nonesensical to assume she could not write a plot of a similar thing happening to Anduin.

It might not end up as a grimdark "the world is so evil, everyone will betray you"-book ala G.R.R. Martin but WoW has never had that tone, no matter how much you wanna blame Golden for that.

That is assuming Andy will actually "change", instead of staying as the golden boi who is always ultimately right and cannot be argued with without being depicted as edgy/unreasonable/dumb villain, aka the morality litmus of Warcraft.
