Another union operative spewing their propaganda I see. Unions are as greedy and corrupt as anyone. Bravo to the Amazon employees seeing this union BS for what it is.

I mean, it's not that simple and it's weird that "progressives" blame struggling workers terrified of potentially losing their jobs because they may not have any other way to provide for themselves and their family, instead of the corporate goons and political forces that have made unions so "toxic and dangerous".
Funny coming from one spewing pro-union propaganda while gleefully supporting their greed and corruption. Unions made themselves toxic and dangeroius and you blindly support it.

I don't blame them for voting against it. Amazon is definitely large enough to be able to shut down that facility and open another one and it not affect them in the least. Along with the other threats these people were facing from the management... Amazon is likely the only show in town for most of them. The only positive I could imagine from this in the future is so many parents will be returning home so dejected from work that hopefully their kids put 2 and 2 together and become more than unskilled labor.

Please give up your 8 hour work day, your weekends off, your overtime pay, hazard pay, workers compensation, employer provided health care, safety regulations, and all the other benefits that union members literally fought and died for. Oh yeah, and if you have a child, they're gonna need to start working in the factory like ye olden days. No more labor protections.

What propaganda? I mean just saying, "PROPAGANDA!" doesn't mean anything, it's a pointless buzzword that people think will get them pats on the back.

Tell me about the propaganda. Nobody has ever pretended unions are perfect or free from corruption or mismanagement, btw. They're like every other group and some are good and some are bad, if we took that position then we'd need to shut down every corporation because a lot of those are greedy and corrupt and dangerous too.

Or do they have different rules?

So his opinion is trash and yours is the only one that matters. NO, all workers should not unionize. Workers should decider for themselves what they want. Who made you sole dictator of what should happen? UNions are not the innocent angels you try to make them out to be.

Nope, they're the sometimes messy counterbalance to the even more messy corporate power that many companies have. Welcome to life, it's messy all around!

You ask for propganda, you just uttered some. This is a ridiculous post. I get my benefits without needing a union. The fact you think things will go backwards if they go away is also propaganda.

LOL please. You uttered some with your first response.I am not the one saying anyone is innocent. You are trying to act like unionization is the only way for workers. You imply that unnions are perfectly innocent by never once calling out their greed and corruption. Implication by ignorance. I know first hand how bad your precious unions are when they camer into Wisconsin and literally threaten the families of the politicians that thy would shut down their businesses if they did not vote against "Right to Work" Law. THey were literally making impossible for businesses to conduct business by flooding them with protestors so nobody could go into the stores. That is the BS we had to deal with in this state while you blindly cheered it on. Unions are corrupt bullies that are far worse than any corporation. Your hypocrisy shines bright once again.

    Didn't say that at all.

Because you're historically ignorant about unions. Those benefits? They came because generations of union workers fought and died for them before your parents were even born. Respect your elders, yo.

If they want to have any kind of bargaining power for workplace improvements against their billionaire corporate overlords...yeah. You do remember that Amazon is the company where warehouse workers wore diapers because they were too afraid to take a bathroom break lest they fall behind on their pull quota's and get written up? That it's still the company that has been lying about their drivers being forced to pee in bottles, and then "apologized" when they had to admit that yes, many of their drivers do pee in bottles in their vehicles because they can't stop to use a restroom with their delivery load.

I literally never did. I just didn't write an expansive history of unions because...it wasn't necessary? I mean, this is the weakest argument that I've seen in a while.

The one where they protested at the Capitol against a bill that would prohibit private employers from negotiating with unions that required all members to pay dues? The one where they wanted to let people freeload all the union benefits and protections without paying dues?

Got any citations on the threats?

Mind you she has never worked a day in her life.

She said the stories seem to be from people who don't like to work, or may have happened in the past before the $15/hr wages. But her facility, the one in Romulus, MI, she works for 3-4 hours then has a mandated 30 min break, works another 2.5-3 then gets another mandated 30 min break, then finishes out her 10 hour shift. I was worried about the monitoring and surveillance as well. She says they track your activity, you are not supposed to have more than 30min off task while not on break during the week. Now my daughter is a talker and a social person who will stop doing what she is doing to talk. She has never, ad least admittedly, been written up for any of these "strict" violations many of these complaints seem to be about.

She says people do complain about hours but you are told you are in control of your time, with vacation, PTO(can be used in minute increments), they offer voluntary time off, unpaid time off, you can even swap a day if you want or need to change a day during the week. But she feels the people who complain, just don't like working. She's having fun, mind you this is her facility, it may not be representative of other locations. But for someone who has never worked, she enjoys it.

I didn't want to say anything positive and bee seen as an Amazon supporter. I fully support the unionizing efforts, and bringing living wages, humanitarian working conditions, and safe working conditions to all their facilities. I just think some of this may be overblown, or not truly representative of all the warehouse locations.
Thank you for your story. The far left media is in the tankfaor unions. They don't look to report accurately. They simply target people who will fit their pro-union agenda. Those people are largely the lazy who want everything handed to them for no effort.

Actually, without unions there likely wouldn't be unemployment, either. That originated in part from unions (and some employers) setting up similar systems pre-Great Depression, and those models were used by advocates in pushing for states and eventually the federal government to have unemployment insurance systems of their own.

So yet another thing that he shouldn't enjoy because it originated with those evil unions.

I'd be working now if my place of business had a union. (Fired without cause)

So? It does not give them a fre pass to be greedy and corrupt. But YOu are OK with oit as long as they fit your ideolgy. Hypocrisy. The Liberal way.

LOL far left media spin. They were never ":forcerd" by Amazon to do anything. As Amazon stated, there were times that happened because bathroom facilities were not available on many routes. The nver apologizedc. THey explained the situationb. YOU re just parroting the far left spin.

I literally never did. I just didn't write an expansive history of unions because...it wasn't necessary? I mean, this is the weakest argument that I've seen in a while.
You are bragging about writing propaganda? I am shocked someone on the far left would write a puff propaganda piece.

You mean a bill that prohibited unions from forcibly removing money from workers pockets and forcing them to support something they don't like? YOu mean a bill that allowed workers the choice not to join a union? Nice spin. Another example of your propaganda.

And now the personal insults. Pretty sad that a mod resorts to this. Typical when one no longer has an argument.

Sadly even with a union you can still be fired for BS and not receive unemployment. How do I know this? I was fired 6 weeks ago and can't get unemployment.

I pissed off an incompetent supervisor who repeatedly asked me to do things against safety and company policy. I refused to do these things and he along with the managers found a way to say I was "falsifying documents" and fired me. Luckily we have a process to fight against this and the union is doing all it can. Unfortunately since I was terminated for reasons other than lack of work I can't receive unemployment. And with "falsifying documents" on my record it's hard to get a good job in my field. As a welder I can get a crappy job to hold me over till we finish fighting this, assuming it goes my way in the end.

Strawman lies. I've never said I was fine with corrupt unions, I actually fuckin hate them with a passion. And unions that protect known bad-employees that should be fired. Like, I fuckin hate police unions, yo. Those are the fuckin worst.

Just suckling that corporate messaging teet, eh? Your corporate daddies would never lie to you, like they never lied about them claiming none of their drivers peed in bottles!

Not even gonna bother with this bad faith, dishonest nonsense. If you wanna shitpost, shitpost. If you wanna have a discussion like a functional adult, I'm happy to engage.

Fuck that noise. Glad your union is fighting for you at least, hopefully they'll be able to show any dishonesty on the part of your former employer and get you unemployment + back-pay for missed unemployment.

Apologies if I don't have an itemized, historical list, but this isn't a bad summary of some of the bullshit corporations do: https://www.epi.org/publication/fear...of-unionizing/

That's not even touching upon the political attacks from Republicans over the decades, who have whittled away union power and protections at every chance they get.
