I mean money has enough power that even children will remain unprotected. E.g. it will always surprises me that it's even legal to have advertisements for food for children. We're talking about an adult that literally tells to the children of other adults to eat unhealthy junk food and we find that perfectly legal.

How people can think that a company that constantly recycles systems every new expansion could essentially make a new MMORPG is beyond me. You'd think the failure of Titan and creation of Overwatch would have taught people a lesson.

Exactly this. People who expect Blizzard to create a full new MMO in the ~2 years development cycle of an expansion are just crazy.

Creating a good MMO is really hard and takes yeeeeears. If anything of that scope was planned we would know years in advance. That’s just how real life business works.

After seeing the 9.1 raid cinematic ending, who else suspects blizzard setting up to have Shadowlands lead to an entirely new Azeroth.

Zovaal remakes a reality can actually produce a reason to have everything different and effectively bring a new game.

Whether it is Zovaal’s design or he battles with Elune and the new reality is a combination of the two where these two are at opposite ends

Whatever the how, this is where it can lead.

They could effectively produce a new looking game.

Everything updated. New concept. The only thing that stays are the systems and you can do old content so it feels like it’s still wow.

But it is effectively a new game. A lot of shaking up.


We can have class skins,
Prestige classes, new allied races and faction reorganisation.

Now you choose your faction after you pick your race. And some races occasionally change factions. But effectively some raids, dungeons and pvp content are open to all. Not faction limited, while you have certain themes pvp ones

Azeroth though has a very new look.

How they work out the detail is unknown. Is history rewritten entirely? Does
Most of it remain the same? Do the dead from Azeroth return to life?

No need to do expansions into nee weird zones and planets etc.

You can effectively set up the next 5-6 expansions exploring the remade Azeroth and any other related worlds

they will never add a remake of the zones again, they would have a much better worth for their time making a wow 2, and while I initially thought it wouldn't happen, I think it's their only hope to get the interest of younger generations or even old players that didn't came back to pay to play classic
the more they wait the more they have to lose, the less new content will be worth their money, which is why shadowlands will probably last 3 years or more
that or they'll just host wow classic forever and roll fresh servers every 2-3 years

Why would Blizzard want to spend tons and tons of money and time shaking up their principal money maker? People can guess and complain about sub numbers all day long, this game is still making lotsa money. There's no reason to sink 5-6 years, at least, in developing a sequel when everyone who would ever want to play WoW is likely to already have tried it anyway.

One look at Everquest 2 will dispel any notion of this being on the table for WoW, especially when Blizzard is already raking in the moolah just from re-releasing old expansions anyway which is magnitudes less expensive.

They barely even invested in Shadowlands, let alone that we can expect a world revamp or even a WoW 2. With the current dev team I doubt that they'd get anything right.

I think it's more realistic that WoW ends and Blizzard starts focusing on classic servers. I simply don't see a whole new WoW or even a revamp coming from the team that hates 'wasting' resources on anything that isn't end game group content, but I would love to be wrong.

it's not like blizz don't want to, they just can't. early wow was created by some everquest nerds, gamers who made games with heart and passion. todays wow is created by some lawyers and finance manager.

they started to develop Titan and it became overwatch. we knew about it years before overwatch release. don't expect wow2 to come after SL, if ever.... if something as big as wow2 was in the works, we should know by now. so IMO there is no wow2 in the works.

and seriously, who wants a wow2 developed by 2021 blizzard?? do you expect something better than what we have now? better graphics maybe, for everything else, I have my doubts..

10.0 has the possibility of being what a WoW 2.0 could be. It absolutely could remake Azeroth, just as Cataclysm did and update the zones to reflect the changes we've had so far.

10.0 will likely be just like WoD. Tons of hype on the promise and the ideas of a Post-Jailor world, but delivers on 1/4th of them.

It isn't happening. Frankly I've grown to doubt even a "soft" reboot happening. The WoW team sees nothing wrong with the current game and thinks we're in the wrong.
