for example lets say you start a new job extremely anxious about keeping it but you fear your performance is lacking thus everytime you overhear your supervisor speaking to someone else you believe you are hearing them talk badly about you ?

That is not so much a mental disorder, as it is simple human nature when it comes to paranoia, anxiety and overall being nervouse.
I think we all know the feeling of everybody watching you when you are feeling awkward at a party. Or when you stumple on the road, it feels like everybody saw it and laughs at you. Its a thing our mind plays on us and its not necessarily bad.
Edit: That said, if you actually think you are hearing things, that makes no sense in the context of their conversation, you should see somebody about it or atleast talk with your boss to hear if you heard correct. Not to say that you deserve it, but he might actually be talking badly about you with other people, that is a possiblity.
May the lore be great and the stories interesting. A game without a story, is a game without a soul. Value the lore and it will reward you with fun!
Don't let yourself be satisfied with what you expect and what you seem as obvious. Ask for something good, surprising and better. Your own standards ends up being other peoples standard.
I do that all the time about you OP, PMing others here as we speak...
Vanity too. Thinking every action is about you and only you. Can't possibly be anyone or anything else.
