Yes, but they're still doing it, and nothing's being done except completely useless pearl-clutching by Democrats.

The response here shouldn't be shocked gasps and cries of "how uncouth!". It should be slapping cuffs on Abbott and DeSantis and anyone else in their administrations who participated in this galling human trafficking and human rights abuses.

Edit: Yes, local efforts are being done to address the harms caused, but I'm speaking of actions against the criminal architects of this scheme. Dozens of counts of human trafficking and the official response is nothing but a weak shrug, at this point.

DeSantis may have stopped the stunts due to the hurricane and all making it a bit difficult, but Abbott hasn't. He's still sending asylum seekers and migrants to Kamala Harris's house in DC.

Just a reminder that Republicans continue to be perfectly find trafficking people and dropping them off in a "liberal" city, preferably at a prominent Democrats house, without warning the city so they could prepare to receive them or even necessarily telling the migrants where they were being sent to.

This is modern day reverse-freedom-rides. Racism continues to be a hallmark and the central tentpole for the entire Republican ideology.

Because if these governors actually cared about the situation at the border, they'd have their states Senators and Reps. fighting for more funding and a comprehensive immigrant overhaul every single day. They'd be making personal trips to Washington to speak with other members of Congress and the POTUS about the situation. They'd be speaking with other governors impacted by the border issue to have their states Senators and Reps. similarly push the issue.

You know, politics. Working. Trying to accomplish something. But why do all that hard work that requires effort and compromise when you could just human traffic people and then send out fundraising emails bragging about how you're trafficking human beings and need more money to keep sending them to the libs!
But jeeeeeeeezus Dems! Seize the effin busses, vehicles and anything else you can do. Try to raid,, seize business even if they are in Texas. Once more this may not be "legal", but let the courts sort them out. If it takes months, years, that is fine let those busses rot. I would say arrest the drivers, but they are just poor suckers who have to earn for a living.

Do we make the same allowances for coyotes driving a truck full of migrants into the USA?

Fuck 'em. Arrest everyone directly involved in this, because they're all complicit in the crime.

I'm a little softer on this. If you can use the drivers to move up the chain or I guess discourage drivers knowing they will be arrested at the drop off point. Thus no drivers. Still pretty dirty, even though I'm yelling at top of my lungs, for the Dems to start playing dirty. So Idk.

Since this appears to be turning a bit into the DeSantis thread...

Guess his trips to visit some hard-hit areas of his state are resulting in people who are doing important work getting supplies out to people being prevented from doing that work while he was in the area.

Their relief efforts were put on hold as Governor Ron DeSantis toured the area, frustrating people ferrying supplies back and forth.

    "I don't give a rat's ass," one woman yelled.

"Personally, I want you to go over there," one state trooper told Nelson. "I want you to get as much supplies to help these people out."

"So, legally, why can I not?" Nelson asked.

"Our hands are tired," the trooper said.

"I'm not trying to be rude," Nelson told him. "But, we've been doing this very thing one street over, and the only reason we are not over there..."

"Is because the governor's coming...I understand," the trooper responded.

"So, why does that have to stop right now? It's the same thing we've been doing before anyone was here."
Visits to see the damage first-hand are important, but what's more important is that these visits don't interrupt support and recovery efforts. Which I guess Ron couldn't be bothered to do as he tried to squeeze into his incredible shrinking suits.

FOX New is adorable at times.

Near majority of Florida voters support migrant flights to Martha's Vineyard

Near majority. Not majority. Near majority. Yes, 49 to 44 percent is still a solid plurality, but FOX News will have to settle for "he almost had it guys!"

But...do the poll responders even know that he had to find migrants in Texas and that they weren't in Florida to begin with?

Well, the hurricane hit hard, Biden stopped by, let's see how DeSantis is doing.

    "But the national regime media--"

Yeah okay, he's back to normal. Yep, accusing the press of wanting the hurricane to level Tampa. Which in turn is probably because he got caught wearing Nancy Sinatra boots.

Who here lives in NYC? Your mayor is horrible at his job.

"New York cannot accommodate the number of busses that we have coming here to our city."

    NYCMayor
Eric Adams on Friday announced that the city would be entering a state of emergency as it anticipates a record number of asylum-seekers.

He said that more than 17,000 migrants have been bused to the city since the spring, and he anticipates a further influx of asylum-seekers going forward that could amount to more than 100,000.

No question those are big numbers and I'm sure any city would see a stress on their resources. Yet, this idiot is not playing the political game very well and as I always said that the bussing will show strains on a city and if that city or politicians complain then they are doing the narrative exactly what the Republicans of Abbott and DeSantis want.

More of my comment is once more the Democrats are being outplayed. Say and try to accomplish relief behind doors. Crying to the media is like injecting this directly into the Conservatives veins. I do put this on Biden and federally too. Trump manipulated funds from other agencies. /Cough, mainly when he did it with military building funds with the wall. So Biden needs to step up. Oh also I will yell out once more to arrest, seize these vehicles. I'm betting they are not being warned by arrivals, so that would be a vioaltion.

In short while this is a contrived crisis for the Republicans, the Democrats are not playing the game.
Democrats are the best! I will never ever question a Democrat again. I LOVE the Democrats!

More polling continues to put DeSantis and his cruel stunt on the wrong side of public opinion

In what Daily Kos’ Laura Clawson previously called “a page straight out of the White Citizens Council playbook,” Florida’s Ron DeSantis lured vulnerable children and adults from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard. It’s a craven political stunt designed to boost his presidential ambitions, hurt Venezuelan migrants, and “own the libs” in the process.

But polling last month showed Republicans split over GOP-pushed stunts transporting migrants. Overall, more Americans oppose it than support it. New survey results released this week now also show that most Americans support protecting Venezuelan migrants.

"The survey finds that a majority of Americans (63%), across party lines, believe that people who are fleeing Venezuela and other communist regimes should be allowed to legally request protection,” Immigration Hub said. The national poll, conducted by Civiqs, found that the vast majority of Democrats, 86%, support the asylum process. More than half of Independents, 57%, are also supportive. Among Republicans, support is at 41%.

"Some Republicans worry that the stunt, which some experts have labeled ‘a different shade of family separation,’ could cost Republicans key voters from the Venezuelan voting bloc in Florida, the fastest growing Latino community in the state,” Immigration Hub said. The polling does not favor DeSantis, with nearly 70% of Latino voters saying that Venezuelans and other migrant fleeing regimes should be able to “seek safety in the United States should be allowed to legally request protection.”

“Additionally, the poll also found that a majority of Hispanic voters (65%) believe that the Republican governors of Florida and Texas who are busing and flying immigrants who are fleeing persecution are pulling a political stunt ahead of the November elections,” polling continued.

In polling released by Reuters and Ipsos last month, nearly half of respondents said they believed that GOP leaders were engaged in human trafficking. “Forty-five percent of respondents in the Reuters/Ipsos poll—including 63% of Democrats and 31% of Republicans—said state leaders transporting migrants were committing illegal migrant trafficking,” the polling said.

"The immigrant stories of so many Latinos in Florida are of mothers and fathers, children and grandparents fleeing communist regimes, violent civil wars, and political persecution,” said Beatriz Lopez, Chief Political and Communications Officer for the Immigration Hub. “Just like my own family, they all found safety and a welcoming home in Florida. DeSantis is not only maligning the state’s rich history of immigrants who have helped build Florida into what it is today and who will even now assist in its recovery, but he’s making it clear to Venezuelans, Latinos, and their tax dollars that he’s willing to play games with human lives like a fascist.”

"None of us like to be reminded of the dictators our families fled from—come Election Day, there will be some reckoning at the ballot box,” Lopez continued.

The Treasury Department watchdog has agreed to investigate any potential misuse of federal funding behind Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R) flights that left 50 migrants on Martha’s Vineyard last month.

In a letter to Massachusetts lawmakers sent Friday but publicly shared Wednesday, the department indicated its probe has begun, noting it has “already sought information from Florida” about appropriate use of federal funding.

The investigation comes after DeSantis hired private charters to fly a group of mostly Venezuelan migrants from Texas to the Massachusetts island. The group was told they would get assistance with housing and finding jobs only to arrive to learn that local nonprofits had no clue they were coming.

Treasury’s Deputy Inspector General Richard Delmar told lawmakers that it would “review the allowability” of using two different types of COVID-19 aid or the interest earned on the funding on immigration-related activities.

Florida did not directly spend COVID funding on the migrant flights, but last year the state legislature set aside $12 million earned from interest on the federal funding to transport “unauthorized aliens from this state.”

DeSantis’s office did not immediately respond to request for comment.
So take some "socialist" federal money while decrying socialism, let it accrue some interest, spend that interest on human trafficking and printing out bogus brochures with the express intent of lying to the people being trafficked out of another state that was not Florida.

    Sounds pretty Republican to me.

DeSantis needs those so-called illegals to rebuild his state now. Louisianna needed them after Katrina/Irma. Houston needed them after Harvey. Florida will need them to fix the damage left by Ian.

Louisianna actually erected a statue to honor those workers.

Statue unveiled to honor Latino workers who helped rebuild city after Katrina

To clarify: Florida has taxpayer money to transport people out of Florida. They do not have taxpayer money to transport people out of Texas. DeSantis spent money illegally.

If New York wanted to, they could have shipped everyone to Texas and/or Florida. We have more spare money than they do. Difference is, we won't lie to them about where they're going. But more likely, we'll just, you know, get them jobs and green cards.

    https://www.wgbh.org/news/local-news...-special-visas

A Texas sheriff has certified that the nearly 50 migrants flown to Martha’s Vineyard by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis were victims of a crime. That certification is a key step in qualifying them for a special visa they would not have otherwise been eligible for.
Thanks, Ron! Unintentionally helping vulnerable migrants in his desperate pursuit of "owning the libs".

So remember that former military intelligence lady who DeSantis hired to recruit migrants from Texas to fly them to Martha's Vineyard?

Well, she didn't do it alone and apparently had help from a Venezuelan migrant named Emmanual (first name only). Emmanual thought that Perla Huerta, the woman working for DeSantis, worked for a charitable organization. Why? Because she told him she was, which was a lie.

So Emmanual, having been lied to without his knowledge, spread the world of flights to somewhere with housing and jobs to others who all signed up for what sounded like a good deal. When they realized they'd been duped, Emmanual tried to get in touch with Huerto for help, but she was nowhere to be found.

Because she was selling her home and deleting all her online profiles.

Huerta and DeSantis belong in jail for human trafficking.

Oh, and Emmanual is cooperating with the TX sheriff that's investigating their kidnapping and trafficking out of the state.

Also noticed that the very next story on the list was how Trump charged the Secret Service $1,100+ PER NIGHT (Several times the governments typical rates) they were forced to stay at his properties while Eric Trump was claiming it was more cost effective to stay at Trumps resorts because the SS got to stay for free.

And just that way alone Trump funneled at least 1.4 million from the US taxpayer to himself.
Since we can't call out Trolls and Bad Faith posters and the Ignore function doesn't actually ignore it. Add
    "mmo-champion.com##li.postbitignored"
to your ublock or adblock filter to actually ignore ignored posters. Now just need a way to ignore responses to them as well.

They showed this as proof of voter fraud, after they were told they could fucking vote. What a fucking piece of fucking shit. Meanwhile, actual fraud from the villages was ignored, because they aren't felons and voted for Trump. Even the cops were dumbfounded with the bullshit warrants were issued.
