Sorry for late reply. I just used some smoke brushes as well as some cd4 brushes I found on DeviantArt :P And then I would use the smudge ability (size 5 or 9 softbrush, with smoothing and scattering) and smudged it a bit, along with making the layer Pin Light, Hard Light, or Vivid Light. Sometimes I even use Linear Light

I have it under the 256k limit, but even when I took it all the way down to 180k, youtube sized it down horrifically and completely ruined the text and some of the gradients between colors. I have no idea what the problem is. As for the colors on your theme, I recommend:

GENERAL
Font: Arial

Wrapper color: #000000
Wrapper text color: #EEEEEE
Wrapper link color: #CCCCCC
Wrapper transparency: %100
Background Image: (The one I gave you.)
Repeat Background: No
