I was on my retadin and joined random pug on weekly malygos raid. It looked quite good, people had T9, ilvl232+ but then i noticed two tanks. ''Well yeah...why not everyone should have around 4k dps so it shouldnt be a problem'' i said. We started him, it went smooth...but..slow AS HELL. /recount toggle.... WTF? results were insane. I had like 4.8k dps, and second best was mage with 2.6k it went down to hunter with 2.1k, DK with 1.8k and arms warr with 1.1k DPS. I looked also at dmg done, well both tanks were better than those shitty dpsers by far, we didnt make it to enrage and wiped.

The thing is that i dont usually run with pugs but come on, is it really this bad? Or was it just bad luck?

Oh yeah and healer jumped on disc which was quite unexpected too ^^

Do you guys have good or bad experience running with pugs on your servers?

If you know how to stack the sparkly things, you can do it with all your dps putting out 1.5k.

I think our first kill we had people in Naxx 10 gear.

Exactly - stellar and kick ass DPS (higher than what you noted) can easily take him without the sparks.
If you stack the sparks just right (I've managed to land double sparks in runs against Malygos) then you can get away with lower DPS - albeit it may take a bit longer than with better than par DPS.

Not sure why you really need 2 tanks on 10 man to begin with unless the PuG is that badly geared. I went in last night and actually went into my DPS spec for the first time in months and let the protadin take Malygos and the Nexus Lords.

That's why gearscore is fail, people in lvl 232 gear doing 2k dps and less.

probably everyone was /afk autoattacking, assuming the person next to them would be dpsing. Seems to be the culture now according to various forums. Kinda makes me glad I don't play now, hopefuly Cataclysm will be better.

I did EOE 10 I was on the sparks. God it is soo easy and boring. They take forever to get in range for Even Death Grip . We still easily managed it though

No offence dude but 4.8k DPS in EOE 10 isnt that good I am on 5.2k and I have usually got to spend forever waiting for those slowwwwwww sparks

So I did maly with a pug and p1 was done in about a minute - DPS was massive. Lowest 4k.
P2 took a wee bit longer but was still damn quick. I had good feelings.

P3 we had 2 pple say in /ra "so wut i do now?". In 20 secs we had 4 dead. 30 sec later it was down to 3. We didn't make the enrage timer.

Attempt 2 & 3 were similar. The raid leader kicked 3 lame ducks that couldn't last 30secs. We hit the enrage timer 2 more times with 5 ppl up.

I gave up and did it with some guildies and took longer to fly there and buff before 1 shotting it. Don't pug Maly IMO.

False, because if you are stacking the sparks people won't be doing 1.5k anymore, will they? if they're doing 1.5k on stacked sparks already, you'll enrage.
