I need a new leather jacket. Sad thing is they're crazy expensive.
Also, something slightly more appropriate to the thread than The Black Heart Rebellion which I linked above.

I'm 39 and agree with this somewhat. The older bands...the ones still around anyway, their releases are becoming less frequent, and there doesn't seem to be much high quality stuff coming out from the younger acts.
Megadeth's Super Collider was absolute trash IMO.
Opeth doesn't really do metal anymore.
Dream Theater feels really tired to me now.
Blind Guardian, Devin Townsend and Nightwish are good. Kamelot is all right. Alter Bridge is ok.
Periphery's Juggernaut was a nice surprise and much better than their other ish. I ordinarily wouldn't go for that sort of stuff.
Some of the newer metal acts I cant get into- death metal(opeth being an exception) doom, lamb of god, killswitch engaged and other growly crap.
Give the band Argus a try. Fantastic heavy metal in the classic style but with a good bit of traditional doom thrown in for good measure. Some definite Maiden and Candlemass influence. If you're into classic 70's and 80's stuff you may dig them. No growly nonsense, and the singer is fantastic. These guys aren't exactly "young" though, as they are all at least in their late 30's I believe.
30 minutes well wasted. This was done regardless of personal genre favoritism, so ignore whatever you want to ignore and head towards the next album. Oh and it's one album per band obviously, otherwise this list would become tedious. I added genres, so that may help.

Great list . Most of the early 00s stuff I already know & some of them are personal favorites ( like the pos and the evermore album, tho I prefer dead heart ) .Will check soon.
I was thinking more about running the whole thing as a motif.

New Watchtower outta fucking nowhere.
The epitome of the Seinfeld bass in metal is back!
Went to a Solstafir concert again. Great as ever, but the real surprise was their warmup band (or how is it called in English). Mono, a japanese band which was great. I'm not good with genres, but it was a very slow post-rock type of music and it was great.
Also...a friend of mine just forwarded this song to me that we're apparently going to see live.
Worth watching for the videoclip, it's awesome:

It's fucking 13 degrees Celsius, time to rev up the usual suspects:

Anyone got upcoming gigs to look forward to?
Soilwork, Machine fucking Head; Tesseract and Bring me the horizon in my home town and Ghost in Toulouse in the next few months.
Wooh! New Killing Joke streaming in full on Spotify.
Well I'm 43 and I don't agree. While I also love the old 80s metal, nowadays metal has evolved and there are an incredible amount of awesome bands. The 90s were terrible but the 21st century certainly kicked back. If you want to some awesome nowadays metal check out what hellhamster is posting he has a very good grasp on the current metal scene.
