    New CPU, NO signal [Resolved]

So, I upgraded from an Athlon 64 3500+ to a Phenom X3 8750 Toliman from Newegg...
Now i just finished putting it in my computer and... fans works, but my monitor gets no signal, i dont hear any BIOS beep, or anything happening...
then after a few seconds (from 5 to 30), the computer shuts down.

    Other info just in case:
    Mobo: ASRock ALiveNF6G-VSTA
    PSU: OKIA 550W (24A 12v Single Rail)
    GPU: nVidia GeForce 210

Placed the CPU in the right direction? x)

Did you remember to plug in the 4-pin CPU power connector?

A CPU only goes in one direction.

    Re: New CPU, NO signal

The CPU is in the good direction, based on the pins and the holes in the pins, and even the small shiny triangle AMD gives you.

So i just retried and this time i entered BIOS, it detected everything, but the computer shutted down right after the first BIOS page, and now it justs shuts down after mere seconds.

The 4pin CPU power is connected, the CPU fans spins and everything.

EDIT: Is there something i might have missed that comes after placing the CPU, Fan, connected the 4pin... that i might have not known, like a reset to tell the mobo that "Hey, i changed CPU"

Some bells just rang in my head about something something about a shutdown after 15 seconds a while ago, but i honestly don't remember :P

Sounds like possibly a heat issue. Double check your CPU cooler and make sure it's properly connected. If you can get into BIOS quick enough, check out the temp gauge in there to see if it's overheating.

Nope. The motherboard will pick that up automatically.

Also, the 4-pin I'm talking about isn't the connector from your CPU fan, but rather the 4-pin CPU power from your PSU. Just to be clear (since your reply mentioned the fan spinning).

    Re: New CPU, NO signal

News! Another try after some cooling down while i was figuring it out. The CPU cooler is the stock Heatsink/Fan and its properly connected. I was able to see the BIOS and see it detected the CPU, i even got into loading Windows for a small while, but during the load, the computer shuts off...

Isnt the 550W PSU enough to support this?

    Re: New CPU, NO signal

What were the temperatures in the BIOS?

A 550W should be more than enough. The only thing I'd question on that PSU is the amperage on the 12v rail, but your GPU doesn't have too much draw.

    Re: New CPU, NO signal

External Temp and Internal Temps were around 50C, then as it went, it increased... The Computer shutted down as soon as it ticked 70C Internal... then i waited 10 seconds and rebooted it. the Internal Temp was a 76C (75 External), and it shutted down as soon as it did one tick.

EDIT: Mah bad, i meant Celsius not Fareigntheadu (you americans and your fancy words)

70 is pretty hot for a CPU, most will shut down shortly thereafter if the temperature keeps rising. Something has to be wrong with the HSF. Make sure that the HSF is properly seated and that there is a good, even, and thin layer of thermal paste in between the CPU and HSF. Is the heatsink getting warm?

    Re: New CPU, NO signal

So i just opened again (until a shutdown 30 seconds after)

The west and east of the heatsink with the openings were blowing mostly cool air and the top and bottom metallic parts werent really warm...they got slightly warmer when the computer shutted down... but nothing hot or really warm happened.

    Re: New CPU, NO signal

76*C is horrendously hot for right after booting. There's an issue with the cooler's seating or something.

    Re: New CPU, NO signal

I removed and reconnected the Heatsink, and its going better now...

It started at at 36C, and now, after being up for 5 minutes, it climbed up to 44-45, and hasnt changed since. ~9-10 mins

So it seems to be working fine now. Thanks guys for the support, but i guess silly mistakes are the worst mistakes, even if i still cant figure out what i did wrong the first time i installed the heatsink.
