    Computer build. (sorry, one more...)

Sorry for posting the same as everybody else, but I'm in the process of building myself a new computer, and I'm currently looking at parts.

First, I've looked at some tests, and it seems that Intel comes out better than AMD nowadays, so I was thinking about a
    Intel Quad core i7-930

Looking into graphics cards, and I want a Nvidia card, because I'll probably buy the 3D tech in the future (for the giggles)
So was thinking about a GeForce 470 GTX, but do they get very warm as other Nvidia cards do?
Is there any manufacturers who make them colder than others? :P

Since my expertise in MBs = none, i decided to go for a cheap one, ASUS P6T SE Is it good enough?

For RAM, I was thinking somewhere along the lines of Corsair XMS3 DDR3, Kit w/3x 2GB XMS3 modules.

If anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate it

Also, how big should the PSU be in terms of Watts?

stay away from the P6T SE... go with the gigabyte ud3, or the asus p6x58d-e

The nvidia cards run about 5% hotter than the ati cards, but also usually perform 10-15% better against their relevant competition. currently right now, nvidia makes the top performing cards.

Set a custom fan profile for your 470 and it will be more than mine. The Corsair XMS line is really nice, but if you spend the extra $40 or so you can get into the corsair dominator line.

As far as PSU is concerned, if youre going to just run 1 video card, grab a corsair hx650

The sticky doesn't take into consideration the nVidia Fermi cards for those with a higher budget. I need to add those.

Personally, I prefer 3. One intake in the front (low) and 2 exhaust in the rear (high) (or top, or one on the side). I would say 2 minimum, though. Intake in the low front and exhaust in the upper rear.

I recommend doing push pull configs with your fans on your radiator/heat sink.

My recommendations for cooling are: Noctua D-14 for air, Corsair H50 for a simple water setup. Scythe GentleTyphoon AP15 1850rpm Fans.

Thanks for the help folks ^^

    I'm gonna go for:
    Intel Quad core i7-930
    Gainward GeForce 470 GTX
    Corsair XMS3 DDR3, Kit w/3x 2GB XMS3 modules
    ASUS P6X58D-E
    Corsair HX650

I have one more question though.
Does anyone know how long the 470 GTX is, and do I need a longer case?
On my old card, a Geforce 9800GX2, it was just barely that i could fit it into my case.

How good is it to have an SSD with WoW and W7 64 bit on VS. a standard HDD?

SSD is a quality of life thing. Windows boot time and WoW's load times will drop to about half. It will not affect WoW framerate in any way, game just starts faster. Before it took about 2 minutes from pressing power switch into WoW's login screen, now it's less than minute. (Using Win7, and clicking icon from desktop wont take long)

In YouTube you can actually watch some videos comparing load times between HDD's and SSD's, and there's a hell of a difference. There are also videos comparing Windows boot time.
if you really were from Sweden this thread would be about metal
