So, what do you think this could be used for? Do you guys think it's just a fishing rod with a different explanation or a new fishing mechanic?

Could also be used for a quest. but seeing as bliz said they would revamp fishing in WotLK and never did.

Noticed that one too, I'd say it's for internal testing of new fishing mechanics, but don't expect it to make it into the final game or even the Beta.
But your duty to Azeroth is not yet complete. More is demanded of you... a price the living cannot pay.
