Question about honor

Supposedly if you win a BG you SHOULD get at least over 80 for participating.

For some reason I keep getting 40 honor. I do over 100,000 damage. I enter BG's before they fully start. My HK's are highier than some others yet I still see people who did little to help out get 180. What's going on?

Maybe it was their first win of the day, thus earning more then you who had played games and won them earlier
