red panda red panda red panda!
No parts were chosen for its looks.
The motherboard, he thought were extremely ugly. But it came with a floppy-connector, so that's why he wanted it. In difference to the ASRock Z77 Extreme6, which is to my knowledge the only other Z77 with internal floppy connector, this came with double-ethernet ports, something he wanted.
He's not a gamer, he wants a quiet computer and he feels a computer without an internal floppy is either not a real computer or a notebook.
He's taking part of GIMP, meaning he'll run his cores to near the 100% mark all the time.
And you were correct in guessing of the reason for the GTX460. It was more powerful than what he had, it was more quiet, drew less power and it meant that I could snag the HD6900-series card he got for free from Sweclockers.
Fine enough . I knew it wasn't picked at random, that's why I asked. It looked like kind of unlikely bunch of parts together which had to be chosen specificly for some purpose or else it'd be rather messy, makes sense?
Oh surely, I would have accepted that as an explanation as well. Most enthusiast and or stylish gamers prefer looks along w/ performance. Just like cars our pc's are our hotrods.

if its directed at me i was not sure there were any other models of the 7850 so here is the basic specs, the comp is being built for me as im lazy and want to be sure the comp will be good. due to money the only other cards available is the gtx 570 1280 or gtx 550ti 1GB and was sure the 7850 would be the best option. Myabe in a few months i may get another one and SLI 2 7850s as they are relitavely cheap and good performance or a single 7970 3GB depending on which would result in the best performance.

What is the expansion card between the sound card and the first graphics card?
Probably upgrading my 6750 to a 7850 next month. My graphic card has always been slowing down my computer.
