    Godzilla, a conservative 7/10.

I absolutely loved it, but being critical I can't really push my score much higher.

Bryan Cranston did a fantastic job as always, but everyone else in the movie could have been replaced & they wouldn't have been missed.
Naturally spending so much time watching Millitary stuff is a little frustrating, but I didn't hate it as much as I thought I would. I actually felt like the focus, even during many of the Military scenes with Ford, was still always on the Monsters. For example the Hawaii sequence, you've got the Military going to check out the Sub & Ford with Short Round, but whenever the Monsters come back into shot, they instantly steal the show & those Monsters are always in the back of your mind.
Dialogue was a bit weak at times (Plenty of military 'Hoo-Rah' stuff) & they probably could have shortened or done away with a few of the 'Human Drama' shots.
Some people were frustrated with the way they 'Cut Away' from the first couple of Monster fights, frankly I think it kept the pacing & really made that final battle one hell of a pay-off. Plus there was plenty of MUTO destruction which kept you satisfied.
Some really, really good shots & cinematography, sometimes though it was just plain lame (The HALO jump sequence was incredible, I'm kinda sad that got spoiled in the Trailers).
Music was fitting, but nothing overly special.
CGI was solid, at least the Monsters looked amazing (Water could have used a bit of work).

I really despise people who clap & cheer at the Cinemas, but this is the first time in a long time that I came very close myself & honestly wouldn't have minded if people did. The moment when the music goes to a whisper & you see the blue hue coming from the smoke & Godzilla turns around and blasts his Atomic Breath at the MUTO (And the subsequent shot later down the Female's Throat), fuck, my eyes were wide & I had a fucking huge grin on my face. It was one of those kind of "moments" in Movies that come around once in a blue moon, like the T-Rex in Jurassic Park or Theoden's Speech in ROTK etc.

I gotta say, if Pacific Rim was the first return of Kaiju films, then this is the next one, I'd just absolutely love to see more. Obviously I don't want us to start getting Kaiju movies at a rate like Capeshit happens, but I'd be happy with a new one every couple of years. Hollywood is proving they've got the potential to do these Monster movies, just needs a really solid script.

Godzilla (2014): 10 / 10 The monster parts get a 10 / 10. The human parts gets a 6 / 10. Killing off Bryan Cranston too soon gets -2 points. Cutting to human parts when monster parts look like shit's about to go down gets another -4. Pacific Rim spoiled me on monster mayhem, yo... I needs my fix. Money shots get +10 bonus points, because blue motherfucking nuclear breath. I wonder if Blondie's Pizza survived the carnage. A lesbian and I used to have lunch there and perv on chicks.

    X-Men - 7/10

    X2: X-Men United - 8/10

    X-Men: The Last Stand - 6/10

Decided to watch the original trilogy, which I had never done for some reason, before seeing X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Seen Divergent at the movie theater. 9/10. It was very well done. Almost had an RPG feel to it.

    Godzilla (2014): 7/10

HotDAMN them visuals with the monster scenes are beyond anything that's ever been done, and some scenes made me rock hard. Plot at some point gave up, the americans' plan was just laughable and pretty much "hurr durr we have to let the audience know FIRSTHAND we dumb americans are gonna do everything against what our ONLY expert says because you know, nuclear bombs, planting that in the middle of a huge city and then send, hoping against all hope, ONE expert to disarm it because, woops", letting Cranston die early on was a big no-no, and noone cared about the dude's family.

    X-Men: Days of Future Past - 9/10

I don't give 9/10's easily, I usually want to keep it at max three an year, but DAMN. What an amazing movie this is, the best X-Men movie yet in my opinion. The action is cool (Quicksilver and Blink are good at helping that along), it's funny, it's exciting, it has heart, it has it all. It's time travel plot makes sense too. Though, what really made me give it 9/10 was the amazing way it rebooted the X-Men franchise.

    Already excited about X-Men: Apocalypse.

Worth noting however, something I respect the movie for, but which will undoubtedly hurt it's box office, is the fact that it basically requires you to have seen the six other X-Men movies. Certainly the original trilogy and First Class. The after credits scene in The Wolverine helps you not go "WTF I thought Xavier was dead?", even though Wolverine getting bone claws by the end of that movie makes little sense. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is probably the least important, and the worst X-Men movie, but it does put some nice weight on Stryker.

    A Clockwork Orange: 9/10

Great movie and I can find very little wrong with it, it's not a 10/10 for the simple
fact that on occasion I'd spot a cardboard character or two, and that took me out
of the movie's world for a bit.

    Metal - A Headbanger's Journey - 9/10

I remember watching this when it first came out in 2005 and discovering the whole world of Heavy Metal... This documentary is pure GOLD for metalheads and makes me shiver while watching such legends that molded my very existence talk on screen.

Must-see for every metalhead in the world!

"Ever since I was 12 years old I had to defend my love for heavy metal against those who say it's a less valid form of music. My answer now is that you either feel it or you don't. If metal doesn't give that overwhelming surge of power that make the hair stand up at the back of your neck, you might never get it, and you know what? That's okay, because judging by the 40,000 metalheads around me we're doing just fine without you." - Sam Dunn

It's good. It really, really is. However, I kind of feel it's missing... something. I can't put my finger on it but it's missing something.

I was thinking it needed more fleshed-out, interesting characters for when it cut away
from Godzilla, so that we at least stay more emotionally invested. But, I do agree, it
seemed like they were teasing us and it was leading to a big fight at the end, but
noooo we gotta pan away... that said, I'd say about 10-15 more minutes of Godzilla.

Star Trek - Into Darkness - Part of me wants to hate it, but if i see the movie for itself as something i just bought to eat nachos with cheese to, it worked very well. So i give it an 8... So its above average but beyond flawless. Before that i watched V for Vendetta again and its a solid 9 and the top makes FightClub as a 10.

You see What lower my score for the movie was the extremely boring human story, NO ONE goes to a godzilla movie for the human sub plot. The dude from breaking bad was amazing and i was very sad to see him killed off but it fit. it advanced the plot in the right direction. The first 30 minutes was amazing, After that Just about everything including the humans minus the halo scene and the Sub was shit.

Cutting away from godzilla as soon as you finally see him was stupid.
Not showing the first fight between him and muto was ridiculous.
Having a guy with the same acting range as the bitch from twilight leading the film was absurd.
Pointless drama with the wife and kid was pointless.
The end with the dude passing out on the boat with the nuke was so beyond silly it was funny and sad.

Now godzilla blasting the female muto in the mouth was amazing but i can tell you that everyone was waiting for him to throw the head.

    Godzilla 2014 7/10
As a huge godzilla fan, it was lacking more godzilla and had far to much military ho haa and human thingys. Atlantic Rim had better fights and cuts.

    X-Men: Days of Future Past

Great start with a really slow middle. The end was pretty solid, but nothing to rave about.

    6.7 out of 10

X-Men: Days of Future Past. 10/10 Well, the title is correct, it does spend all of it's days in the past. But this movie, as rolling stone said, did everything damn near correct (It's time travel, expect plot holes, it's 2 dudes writing a script vs millions of people watching it with thousands of different what if's being asked). That being said, this a very well written product. It had delicious easter eggs, amazing cameos, and badass action scenes, I liked this one over the last ensemble cast superhero flick The Avengers Magneto became more badass than before, was wondering why the dude was carrying a stadium in the trailers, then boom, it happened, fucking genius. This was the most "for the fans" comic based movie I've ever scene, if you've read the comics, or Wikipedia, and know the history of some of the characters, you will probably get every point made in this movie, while others are scratching their heads (Quicksilver's mom knew a guy that can bend metal? (Woosh, over one dude head, OMG SO AWESOME in mine). Some didn't even have any lines, just a scene of something, and you're like OMG! Is that a baby Scarlet Witch! The little girl's credit role is "Peter's little sister"....sooo.....that can pretty much confirm that.

Only thing left open to me is that ending of course, now that Mystique has Wolverine in the past, does this dude still get his claws, or will they be bone? Apocalypse than Wolverine 3 will be next up though, than hopefully they end it with a bang. Also glad that Blink will be in the next one, as she was my favorite part of the future/present scenes in the movie. That's one girl that knows how to think with portals. Unsure on how they will do it though, since Apocalypse will be set in the 80's, and the same actress will playing her.

All in all, my favorite movie of this year, had very low standards, came out very, very impressed. Damnit Fox, make all your superhero movies like this.
