Silent Hill 1 ... Oh god that shit me up
Silent Hill 1 ... Oh god that shit me up
Clive Barker's Undying - first few levels, was so young
Later i found that no single game will scare me again (sound off)
I'm surprised nobody mentioned any of the games from the Penumbra series, which is by the same developer as Amnesia. Actually, it came out before Amnesia. It's the same exact type of game with different textures, models, and maps lol.
F.E.A.R. 2 Project Origin and Perseus Mandate.
FEAR, especially the elevators/ventilatos, i hate it.
FEAR, Doom or Dead Space are not scary at all. They are action shooters with some shock moments, nothing more. Even mentioning those in the same topic as Amnesia is a disgrace.
Obviously Amnesia - The Dark Descent wins here. Scariest game ever.
The second most scary game (and really unnerving, too) is (imo) "The Suffering". It's a bit older and not that well known but the whole story about monsters and insanity is pretty intense.
Silent Hill is supposed to be quite good and maybe on the console it really is. I only played it on the PC and I have to say the scariest thing about it was the PC controls. The console port was done so bad that it completely and utterly ruined the game, any kind of immersion was just impossible. I quit after an hour or two because of that.

Amnesia : The Dark Descent is far far away from other horror games for me, its pure terror to play and will break your mind if you are able to live yourself into a game. I woke my parents 04:00 in the morning for screaming out loud... im 19 btw :3
Definitely Hello Kitty Online and Sim Bieber were the scariest.
I agree with amnesia.
Also call of Cthulu, Dark corners of the earth
original Resident Evil, first of its kind and at the time, I pee'd a little.
Amnesia.
No doubts about it.
Sometimes, even wow makes my jump.
But man, Amnesia messes with your mind.
It's as if it triggers your primal instincts and makes you run like the helpless bastard you actually are.
I don't think I'll ever play it again.
That shambling horror is still haunting me...
Playing this with the lighst out
f.e.a.r. wasn't that scary in my opinion but doom III scared the hell out of me. i played it right after the release where i was quite young, so i hadn't much experience with such games. with 5.1 sound and a dark room it was awesome.
another one is turok II
i was about 12 years old and got the uncut version from a friend and never played such games before. one night i got nightmares of mutilated dinosaurs.. it wasn't really scary at all but in that age it was really hard for me :P
1. Minecraft, 3 Hours of solid digging to get the raw materials for one wall of my castle... Walking back avoiding creepers, endless caves, lava pits, gravel or sand falling on your head, zombies, skeletons, spiders.... skeletons riding spiders...
OOH Diamond..... *pick pick pick* Woot! SSSSSSSSSSSSSsssssss... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
2. Amnesia, The only game I refuse to finish because its just that damn scary (Also probably because I died a lot in the dungeon part after the elevator and lost all my oil/matches, and pretty much have to start over if I want to finish)
3. Any RPG/Dungeon crawler/MMO Hardcore mode (Supported by game or not) Dying and starting over adds a whole new level of terror to any game... (GO TRY SUPERMEAT BOY WITH 1 LIFE )

Amnesia. Only game that made me tear my headphones of in fear:S
