Line 1: Good Luck Touching the Puck
Pavel Datsyuk, C, Detroit
Marian Gaborik, RW, NY Rangers
Corey Perry, RW, Anaheim
Line 2: And That's How Quick and Elliott Lost All Their Confidence
Evgeni Malkin, C, Pittsburgh
Patrick Kane, RW, Chicago
Marian Hossa, RW, Chicago
Line 3: Let's See What Kessel and Lupul can do Alongside an All Star Centre
Tyler Seguin, C, Boston
Joffrey Lupul, RW, Toronto
Phil Kessel, RW, Toronto
*As a Leafs fan I'd rather see Malkin here, but I think he'd be a bit more dangerous with the Chicago linemates.
Line 4: Unfortunately, I Find These Three to be the Leftovers of Chara's Wingers.
Jamie Benn, LW, Dallas
Jarome Iginla, RW, Calgary
Jordan Eberle^, RW, Edmonton
*But still better than anyone I have in Ottawa's first line.
*Honestly, a part of me would like to see Benn playing with Datsyuk and Malkin out of sheer curiosity, but I just don't see it happening at the ASG and I'd rather he'd be 100% healthy in that situation.
D1: Plus Thirty Nine
Chara
Timmonen
*Could easily see Phaneuf with Chara, just got the feeling Chara wanted to play with Timmonen.
D2: Pretty Balanced D, Shoot the Puck Like Crazy
Phaneuf
Suter
D3: Sixty Nine Points
Wideman
Campbell
Period:
1. Price - If Defensemen don't leave him open, he'll do a great job; pretty much his life story. If he's not playing with confidence, better to get him out of the way early.
2. Howard - I feel like he'd do well, no matter when he plays.
3. Thomas - Can handle pressure the best, if you're winning (which, they should manage even if Thomas let's in 6 goals) you want him in to rob players of what should be sure goals. All he has to do is what he did to Vancouver last year over four games, all wrapped into one.
vs.
Line 1: Ottalawl
Daniel Alfredsson* (C), RW, Ottawa
Jason Spezza*, C, Ottawa
Milan Michalek*, LW, Ottawa
Line 2: Did You Just **** Yourself?
Steven Stamkos, C, Tampa Bay
Daniel Sedin, LW, Vancouver
Henrik Sedin, C, Vancouver
Line 3: Growing Talent
John Tavares, C, NY Islanders
Claude Giroux, C, Philadelphia
James Neal^, LW, Pittsburgh
Line 4: Leftovers
Logan Couture, C, San Jose
Scott Hartnell^, LW, Philadelphia
Jason Pominville, RW, Buffalo
D1: Frightening (especially if Stamkos or Sedin's are on the ice with them)
Weber
Yandle
D2: Opposites Attract
Girardi
Karlsson
*Girardi is a great at blocking the puck, Karlsson is very good offensively, should balance each other out very well. Both of these guys have also had a lot of TOI (Girardi is #1).
D3: ?
Edler
Letang
*Don't want to say they're leftovers, just see the other two pairs as more interesting matches. Also wanted to put one offensive d-man with a defensive d-man, which Alfredsson's team does have.
Period:
1. Lundqvist - Honestly, I think the only chance Team Alfredsson has of winning is if Lundqvist can stop a hundred pucks in the first period.
2. Quick - Had a couple of good years, has the most shutouts.
3. Elliott - Least in goals against of goalies that have played more than 3 games, let him finish the game off.
*He took the best goalies on paper; Thomas and Lundqvist are the only two I've really seen who can play like they're from another world.
