Looks like my main is now decided has a char engineer
My concern was that after the Necro reveal, they said that the minion noise along with a lot of the other finer sounds where there for sound testing and as such, may or may not be in the game. I know fans praised the sound so hopefully they keep those. Supposedly there will be a sliding bar for how often your character runs their mouth during combat. If you watch the Elementalist video, the characters wouldn't shut in the Water Trident video which lead to nonstop moaning until the sliding bar was announced.
It is just refreshing to know that ArenaNet is even using feedback on the skill videos to improve the game. So currently, at least, they are listening to concerns from the players to improve the game, even if it is something small. I just hope they continue to do so once the game is released. (I'm not talking about nerf this or buff that, I'm talking about the finer things that can make a game so enjoyable or annoying as all hell to play.)
So next profession Illusionist. Anyone? Reworked Mesmer. Since theres no hexes I can see an illusion master coming out of it.
arenanet stated before the thief (or guardian, not sure) release that
at least 1 new profession would be announced (guardian and engineer)
at least 1 returning profession, but reworked with a new name would be announced (thief)
at least 1 proff would return from GW1 (so either Monk, Para,Mesmer, Rit, or dervish. Monk is a no-go, rit is too similar to engineer, para won't be cloth, dervish is too linked to the gods and elona. So mesmer it is, and it will be named mesmer)
Speculation is fun, but I don't think it's wise for people to be so convinced that the last profession is Mesmer. It hasn't been confirmed and might not be in the game. You're only setting yourself up for potential disappointment.
At this point though, I'd be happy if they announced Mesmer just so people will finally be quiet about it for a bit.
I hope it's not called Mesmer, since it can't be the same old Mesmer. Hence why I hope they rename it to Illusionist. Would suit what they would of had to work around.
But...
With this been said:
It hints towards mesmer, with the mind trick puns, but also makes me wonder if it will be the mesmer returning since the devs mention chaning the interviewers mind on the mind controll puns.Jon Peters: There is one left, so hold on...
DeBussy: Yes, there will be. So listen to me carefully, CAREFULLY!... With only one profession left to be revealed you only have one remaining possibility *clears throat* to 'change my 'MIND'' again.
Eric Flannum: *laughs* Well, we’ll see. We may be able to "change your MIND".
It's more than speculation at this time though, on top of what I said earlier, the next profession is a scholar, so cloth armor.
It's 100% sure to be Monk/Mesmer/Paragon/Dervish/Ritualist.
-Paragon is def. not it, since that is not really cloth
-I think (not 100% sure) Monk is officially not in (they don't have healers anyway)
-Ritualist would be too much like the engineer.
Leaves dervish and Mesmer.
It could be dervish, in theory, they have a cloth look, but without scythes in-game?
We also already have 4 classes capable of melee. (counting ranger and thief).
This clearly points in the direction of mesmer, which has also been shown in concept art, the lore books, and several hints from developers.
People didn't like this on GW2guru but, the last profession is a scholar. People seem to think scholar = cloth/magic etc.
But.. define scholar.
schol·ar/ˈskälər/Noun
1. A specialist in a particular branch of study, esp. the humanities; a distinguished academic: "a Hebrew scholar".
2. A person who is highly educated or has an aptitude for study.
Could be something better.
The wikia site is basically dead and outdated. Everyone moved to guildwiki.org. Check out http://www.guildwiki.org/Secondary_p...s_for_a_Ranger - which, conveniently enough, isn't awful on the eyes, either.
In my experience, secondaries either determine one or two skills on your bar or 6+ skills on your bar. If you want to play a ranger as an actual ranger (and not a R/D with a scythe or something), I'd suggest R/Mo for Mending Touch, R/W for Flail, or R/Rt for Splinter/Nightmare Weapon. No matter your secondary, though, please keep res sig - the argument for rebirth is "it helps us if we almost wipe", but the argument for res sig is "it helps us not wipe". If you go /Rt, death pact signet is a worthy pickup. (I'm not a fan of Flesh of My Flesh on things that aren't monks or resto rits, personally, but I could see it working on a ranger.)

Scholars all have the same armor though, so basically, it does come down to cloth armor. It's not bound to be magic ofc (I'ld love a martial arts class ) given the options, the only possible ones are still dervish or mesmer, with mesmer being the obvious candidate
I just hope it's something different than 'Mesmer', the name shouldn't go over in my opinion since it's not really Mesmer anymore. Although I said that on GW2guru, and people went mental at me, didn't realise the GW community was so hostile really. Was like the wanted me tied to a stake and burnt. They seem to think the changes to other professions that kept the same name mean the Mesmer will have it, but don't think companies can change their minds on things they've said.
for example, it is impossible to do damage with a gun or shoot with bows and arrows under water. All this will come back relatively soon, when the system is more refined.
FINALLY
I would just rather see something else. Mesmer to me wasn't all that fun, and they could do something interesting and go with something totally different again.
See, Mesmer this, Mesmer that. We just got a new profession announced and all people are talking about is the Mesmer.
ENGINEER.
Let's discuss that. I think it's cool. What do you folks think?
I've given up trying to agure against Mesmer at the moment, GW2guru seems to hate anyone in the mesmer thread who comes up with something to suggest against them. The proof I've got it the mind control puns from the quote earlier.
Didn't realise the GW community was infact wrose than WoW's in some ways. :P
