I don't even want to know what temps you got at 4.9 since 4.7 is already touching 80c, are you fine with those temps...?

Outside of prime95, it takes some very special use of your computer to go that high on load.

It's the summer mate. Today when I did this validation it was hot outside and probably even hotter in my room. When I was running the 4.9Ghz clock I think my max temp was somewhere around 77C. For reference, it's night now and much cooler in my room; I got WoW and F@H running and got around 50-53C on the third (hottest) core.

Edit: Oh, and I'm pretty sure I was running my fans at 5V rather than 12V, so much less cooling in the case ^^

Ok, since no one saw my edit, and someone is above 4.6 I decided to do some more overclocking. I can get P95 to run me at 5.0ghz but I'm regretting going with a Hyper 212+ (i.e. temps too high after about 30 min, I'll go again if I get beefier fans or wait til winter). So here's me at 4.9, without doing a lot of fanagling with the vcore from my 5.0 runs. Also, my temps haven't increased while this is going on, probably consider letting it run a bit longer to see if it peaks over 82 on that one core but it's pretty steady at 80.

Well, the core speed fluctuates between 4899.9 and 4900.5 =(

Thanks, I'm pretty happy with it. If I had a better cooler it would be doing 5.0ghz with that vcore. I can probably drop the v down a bit, I just started messing with 4.9 since I can't do 5 just yet.

Also, interesting note, any of my overclocking past my 4.6 I was running causes ESET Smart Security to not run at startup since the service hasn't started yet(lol), anyone know what I can do to fix that?

edit: hour later no change to max temps, sad that another increment of the multiplier puts me 90+ =( Maybe I could try just upping the bus..

I keep dropping my overclock as i'm trying to skimp on electric, but generally i just like messing about, typically running about 4.3 ish now, past that is giving me no performance gains (and keep dropping it to a point it gives me the gains i need and not more, for now at least, maybe in winter :P

I did have a cpu validated 5.04ghz: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1951253 but couldn't be bothered replicating it :P

forgot to run my case fans at 100% during this, they were only going 40%, oh well :P

I'll try to replicate it tonight, always up for a challange. And it would set a higher first place other then the 50-70mhz i got over Thorc haha.

Here is my 5ghz run with P95 http://i.imgur.com/q5pjT.jpg
Here is what I call fun. http://i.imgur.com/btiHt.jpg
The 9.39 score is my CPU at 5ghz with HT on by the way.

I don't have a CPU-Z link as I never bothered to validate it. I'll get around to do it in the next bit with the same settings.

Be careful, if you notice I was running 1.6v, which is close to the over volt limit on the phenom 2, this was running a dedicated 240mm rad for the CPU
