Best healing spec to solo with?

What's the best healing spec to do solo quests n such with? I want to duel spec both healing, but i'd still like to be able to do my firelands dailies and TB dailies. Can either spec do enough damange to quest without having to drink every 2 mobs?

I'm not a priest myself, but I've always had the impression that discipline is the best spec for killing mobs and such. I remember a friend of mine in early Wotlk that leveled all the way from 1-80 as disc, but that's a long time so ago so things might have changed.

I've never had a 85 priest but... its REALLY slow questing as heals. I tried with Disc but I ran oom a lot (Cata up to level 60 now) and I DSed shadow cuz it was way too frustrating. On my resto shammy I do pathetic damage and you run oom easily keeping myself alive against stronger targets. I'd just duel spec. No NEED for 2 healing specs. Some fights may be harder in one spec but hey! Who doesn't like a little challenge?

Haha thats true! But i like duel specing because i'm a PvP healer by trade, but my guild will pull me in to heal whenever our other healer has RL stuff, which is a decent ammount (he just had a baby :P)

I can handle the firelands pretty easily as Holy. When you reach 80%, toss a Renew on yourself and keep going. Lets you use your shield as a sprint instead of a buffer. You've got Chastise for if you grab a double pull, etc.

Not saying it's better than Discipline, but it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be.

There really isn't one for you to use. Disc would be your best option, but you're still gonna be looking at 3-4 minutes to kill 1 mob, so gonna take you an hour + just to do the 3 quests. If you get more than target on you its going to be really annoying as well.


Pallys are probably the only healing class that can solo end game quests and even then its a bit tough. All of the healing specs can do it, but they are just so hair pulling slow that its not worth the time, better off just paying for the respect. Hell they are only 66g you could do it 4 times a day just off the gold from the quests and stuff.

I think Mind Spike Chakra works quite well, although Disc is likely better with the Smite (Read: Holy Fire) glyph. That's from a pure damage perspective. Disc should win overall. Stronger bubbles, Focussed Will, Power Infusion and maybe Archangel.

Hyjal quests are tailored to be doable with any class/spec. I was Shadow to get the initial stuff + Thrall quest-line out the way but I have been doing the actual dailys as Disc and Holy. TB isn't as quick though.

Disc is quickest imo, largely down to the 15% Intellect passive bonus from Disc specialisation.

3-4 minutes? On my disc priest atleast I spend around 10 to 15 seconds on each mob. 5 seconds as shadow. It's not that bad really.

Cool, thanks for the input guys! After i finish up the thrall questline (which i may just do on my hunter, i just wanna see the cutscenes, i dont care about the gear) i'll probably give disc a shot. Wanted to pve heal as disc anyway

I generally do quests as Discipline since the Atonement makes it so I never have to heal myself. But sometimes I'm to lazy to respec and Holy does the job fine as well.

But if you still have to level up a lot, you should really spec to Shadow temporarily. You don't have to change gear, just re-spec. It's a lot quicker.

I've been doing my Firelands dailies as disc and i feel like i've worked out a decent rotation for it(probably not perfect). Shield self(for BT proc)->Penance->Holy Fire->MSx3->MB->MS->Repeat. Pop shadowfiend whenever you need mana, with my gear i almost never oom doing this. Recount tells me i do around 6-8k dps with this.

Personally I generally respec shadow except for raid days.

The nice thing in firelands is ALOT of the mobs even if grey to you, (aka not tagged) you can get credit for the kill if you chuck in some damage. including getting quest item drops from. So between the NPC's killing them, and the masses of players out there, ya can probably get away with just MSx3 and a MB and be just fine for the kills.

It pretty easy to quest in discipline with atonement and with my 4p t11 I dont go oom
Still its slow then a dps spec
