I have a dilemma,
I could DI a good shadow priest
OR
A Arcance mage in exchange for his FM
Which one?

Why does it have to be an exchange?
You should be DI whoever it benefits you most to DI, and the mage should do the same.
You DI the priest and make the mage give you focus magic anyway. the mage has no dots as arcane and wont stack the periodic damage buff for you.
The shadow priest.
Bad bad mage. I always DI the spriest, deal or no deal.
Your really considering giving the mage a dot reliant and beneficial buff when he has no dots? Give DI to whomever in the raid benefits from it most and stop hindering your raid by trying to boost your own epeen on the dps meter.
If your looking only at personal dps gain DIing the shadow priest is going to keep the stacks boosting your dots up, whereas the Arcane mage is not going to give that to you. The equation becomes:
3% haste + 9% Periodic spell damage done OR 3% Haste + 3% Crit
Eliminating common factors we get
9% Periodic damage OR 3% Crit
I feel the periodic spell damage, for any spec of warlock, is worth more personal dps. Again, this assessment completely ignores your other target and assumes you are after personal dps only.
Sounds like a couple of recount heros. This is the exact reason why I believe that these small buffs only cause more drama than benefits with all the DPS junkies out there. DI should always go to Shadowpriest/Boomkin/Fire Mage/Resto Druid. FM should go to anyone that has the highest crit chance. This is why I prefer to heal where meters have very little meaning.
