Thinking of starting a Mafia Scum game to see how well it would work on such a large forum. Anyone willing to become paranoid and give it a try?

I'm in the middle of game 5 on my guild forums, and it can be incredibly fun, but one just isn't enough to fill my F5 cravings, which is why I'm considering moderating my own.

Seems like a game that could easily become really messy though if too many are involved, or am I wrong?

It can. I'd prefer to start off with a game of 10 so people can learn the ropes. Then move it up to 15, and cap it around 20. We had a game with 21, and it still ran surprisingly well, but by then people had basic strategies worked out and could make predictions about the other players. You can alter how many roles there are, so a game with 20 could still last the same length of time as a game of 10. For example
W/ 10 players: 3 mafia, 6 townies, and 1 town cop.
W/ 15 players: 4 mafia, 1 mafia godfather who appears as a townie when investigated by the cop, 8 townies, 1 cop, 1 doctor or jailkeeper that can save/roleblock.
W/ 20+ players: 4 mafia, 4 werewolves, 1 serial killer, 8 townies, 1 cop, 1 seer, 1 doctor/jailkeeper.
The last game I played was what is written above, except with 9 townies, and we actually ended up with 2 townie vs 1 werewolf in the end, so it is definitely possible to win as the town. Of course, that werewolf tricked 1 of the townies to lynch the other, so the werewolf won.Last edited by kumduh; 2012-01-02 at 12:15 PM.
