Without a doubt. Dexter in close second, although the last season wasn't amazing. White Collar is also good, it tows the line between serious and humorous. Sons of Anarchy is good(ongoing) as is The Shield(finished)

Yep Boardwalk Empire was good, looking forward to the second season. Also while we are on the subject I forget Breaking Bad, that show is awesome.

It does depends what you are looking for though, some of the really good shows either got cancelled or have finished. Second season of Sarah Conor Chronicles was awesome, Firefly was very good. The Chicago Code was also pretty decent but I hear it has been cancelled after one season

I can't get behind Doctor Who anymore. I loved watching the repeats when I was young but now the production values feel pretty weak, plus they keep doing horribly poor jokes that I would assume are trying to cater to a wider audience. Also David Tenant was massively better than Matt Smith, although it is a bit like arguing Bonds

Edit: I see you put a poll in - anyone that has watched the Wire from start to finish will undoubtedly vote for it. Although admittedly the second series was both a bit random and weak.

Gonna have to say Game of Thrones...

Breaking Bad is my favorite series so far, followed by The Shield.

They're not supernatural like Lost, but they tend to keep you on the edge of your seat.

OMG you made me choose between Dexter and BSG. You sir are evil.

    First, Game of Thrones.

Then BSG (2000), then Dexter, then Dr. Who (2005) imo.

The Wire and Firefly are awesome as well.

The Wire finished a few years back(it ended in quite a cool life goes on style, which the shield blatantly tried to copy). Heroes fell apart a few episodes into the second series due to the writers strike, it was cancelled after the 3rd season which was somewhat a shame as it did have a lot of potential.

Whatever you do, don't watch Dexter. Shit is so slow and boring.
