how exactly is anyone a "Guild Master" with this new institution. Imo if your not happy with how often your guild leaders logs on, find a new one. It's always been the GM's guild to run as he pleases. Glad to see even thats been taken away.

Well, they are still the guild master or guild leader, just not guild owner, because no character has ever technically owned any guild in WoW.

the boss wont get demoted for his actions - he would come back after a month right back to his boss position.
but with this, he'll come back after a wonderful holiday to dubai only to have to sell his house the week after, his wife leaves him for a richer man, his kids start hating him cause he cant buy them the new BF3 since he got fired.
now, the wife is getting remarried to the once 2ic but now senior executive all thanks to blizzard's new system.
No. It's more like the boss and husband disappearing without prior arrangements for 30 days at a time, then coming back and expecting everything to be the same as when he left when he comes back.

The guild is more than just the guild master, unless it's a Bank Alt Guild. If it's a functioning guild, you can't expect to leave and come back when you like, because it leaves all the other people who are carrying the guild on their back hanging. Chances are if you're above guild level 5, you didn't get there on your own.

This could be abused. What if, one of the 2nd rank people was really a ruthless jerk?. And your in a really nice good active guild, but suddenly your GL disappears, (Lets say somthing horrible like a coma, but no one knows) So that person could just be waiting for the day it pops up, then take guild leadership, steal everything out of the guild bank, and destroy it all. (its happened before

No, it's always been the way it is now and will be in 4.3: if the GM is gone 30+ days, you can arrange a change in leadership. The only change is that instead of ticketing to make it happen, you use an in-game interface.

Why the hell would any guild master have high ranking officers he does not trust? This feature is about as exploitable as the guild bank. If you don't trust somebody with power, don't give it to him. Have a real-life friend ranked highest.

First of all, this is something people clearly care about, and is clearly an issue.

Secondly this is a DIFFERENT team than most other functions in game. This team deals with Guilds, Groups, raids, and the programing behind their functions and what not. This is also a smaller project for about 1 or 2 people.

The problem i see with this is the summer when ppl are going to vacation. There is allways a greddy officer that wants the gold in GB. So 30 days is to little because many ppl have vacation more than 30 days.

would you trust him with your drunk naked girlfriend alone in a room? something you've been working on for weeks/months/years? yeah didn't think so

To everyone that's said "It's always been like this you just had to petition a GM before", don't forget that probably 10% of the people playing the game even knew that was the case. Now 100% of the people playing the game know they have the option to take over guild leadership if their Guild Leader goes inactive for 30 days. If you think for a second that this isn't going to cause ANY problems whatsoever you're kidding yourself.

As others have noted this "30 days of inactivity and I can take over the guild" policy has been going on for awhile. It has led to some pretty uphappy campers who didn't know the policy and returns to find they are no longer GM of the guild. I actually like this feature as it brings that policy to the foreground and out in the open so GM's can take appropriate steps of either promoting someone or kicking everyone out rather then some shady behind the scene maneuvering. My problem is the policy itself as I can see people gone from 30 days that is beyond their control. For instance getting into an accident and having to go to the hospital. Or I know a lot of army guys play over in Iraq and I can think of a few scenarios why they may not log in. Also, there is no option for the GM to get his guild back unless the new GM is nice and hands it back. While I do feel sorry for those who have the leader quit on them it's not like they don't have the option of quitting and starting their own guild.

    My best friends? I would.

This service already virutally exists, except that it is done via a ticket and a GM takes care of it. All this feature does is remove the need to get a GM involved.Seriously, people who think this is some huge deal really need to get over themselves.

Please grow up. Quality of life issues like these that Blizzard addresses, along with the new color blind mode, proves why Blizzard is one of the top companies in the business for customer service.

    WHAT !??!??!?!!
If your officers do not respect you and are your friend, your guild probably doesnt worth anything and not gonna be a problem losing it.
People indeed want to find problems in EVERYTHING!
This feature is an improvement, if you don`t want to lose your guild while in vacation, just tell the officers you are taking a break and they are not allowed to replace you.

Yup. I had a GM transfer a guild to a toon of mine just last week since most people in the guild, including the leader, had not logged in for over a year.

    1) If someone is injured bad enough that they have to spend 30 days in the hospital, their WoW guild is probably the last thing they should be worrying about

    2) No offense against our soldiers, but if you are on active duty oversees with foreseeable periods of time away from the game, you probably should not be the GM of a guild.

Vacations over a month long, dude I want that job.

Being a guild leader is a responsibility, if you can't log onto the game in 30 days you are not up to the task.
